Game Thread Game Four: #1 Ohio State 28, #24 Penn State 6 (9/23/06)

Actually if I remember the replay when the ball was spiked it looked like he actually spiked it in the end zone. As they say if the ball crosses the plane of the end zone, it doesn't matter what happens next, it is still a TD. Although I am sure he will get talked to by the staff. After all you are supposed to as an OSU player to hand the ball to the official. If Malcolm had done that this dicussion would be moot......:)

He was a good yard out of the EZ when he dropped the ball. Mili I think it was posted a screen cap on this thread.... I'll see if I can find it...

Ah, here's the pic. It wasn't Mili.... who posted it...

You can clearly see Jenkins is NOT in the EZ yet and the ball is not in his hand. I suppose it could still be argued the ball had crossed, as he does appear to be leaning forward a bit...

Maybe if they would have given us the ball at the one inch line, we would score and Doug Flutie would say "..Ohio State was impressive with 3 TD's" Instead they(ESPN) went on a tirade about OSU maybe not deserving #1 because the "..Defense won the game"

My point here is that knowledgeable sports writers still judge teams on offensive output. As in "Notre Dame is BACK!" after giving up 37 points. Last I checked, the defense is part of the team.

I say If it was reviewed and it stood then the ball was over. We all know Officials dont make mistakes.
:roll2:

the replays I saw showed his hand could have been over the line as he started his downward movement with the ball.
maybe
possibly
sort of

Another thing I would like to add that for the most part PSU fans were treated very well inside and outside of the stadium from what I saw. There was the occasional boos and heckles but nothing like the treatment we got up in "Happy Valley". The one incident I saw was quickly put out when other Buckeye fans stood up for the PSU fans.

From my limited view it was a good experience for the visiting fans.

Has anyone addressed or heard mention as to why Homan did not play a single snap at linebacker on saturday? The more I watched Kerr get pushed around out there the more I looked for #51 to come in and he never did. Seen him put a big hit on the kickoff returner but that was all.

Why the hell is everyone so quick to discount Kerr? He, not Homan is the starter. We all know this coaching staff isn't playing favorites. The best players play. Homan will be a good one, but he is still a true freshman. Maybe Homan is a liability in coverage and is just playing on instinct right now. I don't know why the coaches are playing Kerr over Homan. No one on here does. But you know who does? The coaches. Kerr has worked his ass off the last four years, yet everyone is ready to throw him out the door for Homan. Kerr actually played a pretty good game on Saturday. I didn't notice him getting "pushed around," and I was paying attention.

I just thought perhaps his hammy was bothering him again. Didn't realize the prejudice was so obvious in my post. And Kerr did get pushed around. I too was watching. We all know his story around here. He has worked his butt off and I'm not calling for him to be replaced.

This describes basically every single ESPN hack except Herbie and maybe Fowler. Gilmore and Mark May want to have Ferentz's children.
