Game Thread Game Five: Penn State 17, Ohio State 10 (Final)

Penn State: Are they that Good?

Well it seems JoPa is back in the Limelight once more after his resounding defeat of Minnesota. They seem to be gathering steam at the right moment
and are we again, ripe enough for another upset?, as we were last year on a saturday night game at Northwestern. I am sure all of this is one everyones minds no doubt.

Happy Valley is obnoxious enough, let alone albiet on a saturday night. I realize Joe Paterno is getting up in years and many Penn State fans are calling for his head on a silver platter but as long as they win, well as they say in the song "silence is golden".

Now they have gained momentum and that seems to be bad timing for all of us Buckeye Faithfull. I hope that Jim Tressel and his staff can prepare this team like Texas was prepared, when
they came into the "Shoe" and stole one from us. It would be a sweet victory for us and would give us plenty of momentum for the rest of the season if we could beat Penn State in a convincing mannner. I know nothing of how good Penn State really is. Are they that good? or are they just playing thier kids as if they have nothing to lose and everything to win situation. A team of this type can be very, very dangerous. What do you all think.

To be honest, maybe I'm one of the few, but I'm not all that concerned with Penn St. Yeah, it's a road night game, and the Nittany Lions always play us tough, but I think we match up really well with them. They have a mistake prone QB who will be under pressure from our LB's all day, and are relying on a lot of young talent. And if our O can keep up the momentum from the Iowa game, I think we roll a lot easier than most think. Just my thoughts...:oh: :io:

I'm going to move this to the game thread after I finish this post. Someone mentioned earlier that Penn State's big start can work to our advantage. The last few years, they came into our game with little to lose (already had two conference loses in 2002, were 2-6 in 2003, and 2-7 last year). I think this year their confidence of starting 5-0 will take some of the devil-make-care attitude they had against us recently...and anytime you rely on two true freshmen playing at WR (King and Williams) against a solid defense you need to worry about their composure and potential for mistakes, regardless of their natural talent.

This game is less scary since Penn State is 5-0...I agree. I still think Penn State is a great team, definitely a Top 25 team this year. But we are a Top 5 team this year. If we bring our B+ game ore better, we win this one. Definitely not an easy game though.

On a side note, anybody have any thoughts as to how many Buckeye fans will be there. The article on Ohiostatebuckeyes.com says more than 4,000...but for me it's hard to believe it would be that few.

Henne and Hart ring a bell? I know this game wont be in the SHOE, but relying on freshman against one of, if not the best D in college football spells trouble for PSU.

Not trying to flame but I dunno if this really makes sense?? so you're saying it'll help our defense (advantage OSU) and it's pretty much a wash against thier defense (no advantage)

So if you do the math Advantage OSU+No advantage= Advantage OSU.<!-- / message -->

No. I meant our defense will dominate their O either way so it doesn't really matter what th weather is like. Our O vs their D is the battle in doubt and bad weather would give them slightly more favorable matchup. So, overall I would think bad weather helps PSU the most.

The Devil make care attitude that they were previously playing under may take on a different perspective once they realize our defense could change all this. I agree with Mili on this one. Now they realize that they are contenders in the BIG10 and a near pefect game is what will be expected of them. The team with the least amount of turnovers could be the winner. I sure hope we can force them into alot of turnovers. That would be nice.
