Game Thread Game Five: Penn State 17, Ohio State 10 (Final)

The Big Ten always does this to me, watch Minnesota get yards on the ground whenever they want to against Purdue, get tricked into thinking minny is going to be solid. Watch Mich St. repetively kick ass, get tricked into thinking that they can whip Michigan. Oh well. I am hoping that its you guys at the top, a strong middle, and then Illinois.

Penn State looks like the team that has me fooled so far in the Big Ten this week. But from watching them play against minny, I wasn't too impressed.

After watching Vince get completely bored with the two teams we have played in the last three weeks, and watching our Freshman RBs destroy other defenses, my respect for tOSU's defense grows. A freshman WR and a freshman CB running some end arounds, oh no. If that is what is making your offense click, you are in trouble when you start playing against the big boys.

As long as you guys have half the passing success that you are capable of, you cover easily (three points, who would have thought).

After watching the Horns coming off of their bye this last week, they started out sluggish as hell, and had so many frustrating penalties. But an early INT and a wake up call at halftime, had everything going in the right direction. But with your team, I don't see Hawk and Carpenter allowing your defensive players to come in sluggish. They know that every game from here on out is a must win if they want a chance at the MNC.

Good luck, I will be watching either way, I just hope that I am watching with a huge smile on my face and a 2000 lb crimson monkey (most likely toothless) lifted off of my back.

Thanks, I'm a big texas fan after this year as well, plus OU is near the top of my hated teams list. I knew Texas' offense was potent, but I didn't know that you were this potent. Vince better not lose in 2005, b/c we want another shot at him. And if not, then we'll at least have lost to the champs (I think Texas can beat USC and VT).

Jenkins is gonna be a stud. IMO we will have a better secondary next year.

I hope Mike Robinson tries to do too much. He has made plays the first 5 weeks that are not gonna happen this weekend. I see PSU having at least 5 turnovers.

Yes, they beat NW, but didn't the Cats go up and down the field on that wonderful defense? They were lucky to win that one. And Northwestern's secondary is horrible! If we don't turn the ball over we walk away with this one! And hasn't that wonderful defense givin up 24 to Cinci and 29 to NW?

All PSU fans talk about is how good their freshmen wide recievers are...

And this is after playing teams like NW and Minny.... How do they know that they will even show up at all against a team with a decent defense, let alone the best in the country??? They are inexperienced and havent proven that they can do it consistently, they are explosive and extremely talented, but you need more than that...

OSU 25
PSU 14

I also like us by somewhere around 10 points. On sheer talent, I think this game's a blowout in our favor, but I think emotion will help to keep them in this game, considering they're undefeated, it's at PSU, and it's a night game. Their offense will do virtually nothing against our D, but I think their D keeps it close for the aforementioned reasons, including our O helping them out a little by carelessly turning the ball over a few times and some more trouble converting in the red zone.
Final score: OSU 19, PSU 7.

To much emotion and poor execution got us down early agsinst UT. If that happens to PSU I don't see them coming back, without some gifts from the offense.I see our defense as being as athletic as their offense, but I don't know if their defense has the athletes to hang with Ginn,Holmes,Smith, et. al.UT did, Iowa didn't.

think the opposite. Sloppy, cold weather gives a bigger advantage to the defense. Our D vs. their O is alrealdy way in our favor. Our O vs. their D is where the question marks come in. The bad weather helps them more I think.

Not trying to flame but I dunno if this really makes sense?? so you're saying it'll help our defense (advantage OSU) and it's pretty much a wash against thier defense (no advantage)

So if you do the math Advantage OSU+No advantage= Advantage OSU.<!-- / message -->
