That didnt seem to bother Nolan throwing back shoulder passes to kids that are lucky to be 6' tall against a much better opponent than Mallard Creek. Ryan Day knows what he's looking at when he goes QB huntinl

Gorney’s take: FACT. Convincing me that
Julian Sayin
is the No. 1 quarterback in the class is getting easier. The Alabama commit just doesn’t make mistakes. He is playing easier competition but he’s also surrounded by fewer elite players whereas Dylan Raiola has five-star KJ Bolden, Jordan Allen and other playmakers in the Buford offense. What’s so special about Sayin, though, is that he was just as good or better throughout the Elite 11 than Raiola and getting caught up in Raiola’s physical attributes might not be enough anymore to keep him No. 1. Nothing is settled and there is still a long way to go through the season and the all-star events to make changes but right now I’m slightly leaning toward Sayin.

Friedman’s take: FACT. The Raiola vs. Sayin discussion has been ongoing since the spring and it will continue to come up as the end of the rankings cycle nears. This is a really tough question to answer right now because both prospects are just a few games into their senior season so there's a lot to still unfold throughout the rest of this year but, if I had to choose today, I'd pick Sayin.
Physically, Raiola is a bit bigger and stronger than Sayin, who certainly isn't small. Raiola was considered the more athletic of the two early in the evaluation process but Sayin has improved dramatically in that area. Neither have glaring mechanical or footwork issues and each have the raw talent to make any throw asked of them. However, the edge in on-field performance goes to Sayin (just five games into this season). He's completed nearly 80-percent of his passes this year which makes sense because it seems like he just never misses the easy pass. Sayin will feel pressure from a defender or get flushed out of the pocket and immediately deliver an accurate and catchable ball to his checkdown. His timing with his receivers is outstanding and it's clear he understands how and when to throw with touch.

I don’t get it with this kids size seeming to carry him.

I was pretty nervous about him when he was a commit because statistically he wasn’t what I’d thought for a 5 star. Particularly his completion percentage.

Now it’s more of the same.

Glad we lucked out with Air Nolan.

I think his ranking has been purely based off of his ceiling. And his size plays a factor into that. He has a college ready body, and analysts assumed that would translate to dominating on the field. Yet, if you look at his HS numbers, he hasn't really dominated at all in 4yrs. And the fact that I don't think he's been even voted a Captain the last 2yrs is a red flag for me. The star QB is usually the leader of the team, and it seems like he's just been a mercenary going to different states and affecting the chemistry of the kids that were already there. And I think the GA competition has been a rude awakening for him, not sure what CFB holds for him if he's unable to dominate at the HS level

I know he’s transferred HS what 3-4x now?

No wonder he’s never a captain. He’s not patient enough to see things through.

Doubt he plays a snap at UGA if I’m being honest.

But talent usually trumps relationships. And kids know the best players, regardless of being patient, if his teammates actually respected him as well he would've been captain. Tate Martell switched HSs multiple times and was still a captain at BG.

I disagree. Had a 5 star showed up a month before the season to take over for a friend I grew up with? Who I worked out and grinded with all off season I’d dispise the kid.

Particularly if he doesn’t perform well.
