Im 35 and a life long tOSU fan..... I take hoops as serious as football and ET is the best ive seen.... JJ a close second... never saw Lucas and Michael Redd had flashes but ET's the best................................................................................

Clark Kellogg and Dennis Hopson rate right up there with JJ and ET....in my opinion. Hopson was a disappointment in the NBA, but he was every bit as valuable to his teams as ET has been.....which is a LOT.

just my opinion

I thought it was very cool that, as soon as the news broke on ET's award, the Ohio State football player's Twitters lit up congratulating him.

Cross sport camaraderie is a special thing.

I'm sure other universities experience this also, but I never see anything near the way it is at tOSU, anywhere else with this type of comaradarie.

Ohio State's Evan Turner and his AP player of the year trophy

INDIANAPOLIS - The morning after Ohio State lost an exhibition game to Findlay three years ago, coach Thad Matta gathered his players for a 6 a.m. practice - "I wasn't real happy," he said - and, halfway through it, invited one of them to leave.

"I walked over to the door, kicked the door open - it was pitch black outside - and I said, 'You either grow up or you go home,'" Matta recalled. "I said, 'I don't care which one it is, but here's the door, it's open, you can leave.'"

Matta paused for effect yesterday during an awards breakfast at a downtown club.

"Thank God," he said, turning to Evan Turner seated to his right. "I really, really appreciate you staying."

Awards prove Ohio State Buckeyes guard Evan Turner grew into his role

Ohio State junior Evan Turner, left, takes a photo of teammates Dallas Lauderdale, right, of Solon, and David Lighty, of Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph, on Friday as he stands with coach Thad Matta after being named the Associated Press' college basketball player of the year.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Ohio State coach Thad Matta kicked open the door of the gym during a 6 a.m. practice and told Evan Turner: "You either grow up or you go home. I don't care which one it is. Here's the door. It's open, you can leave."

Telling the story Friday, one from Turner's freshman season, Matta's ending was obvious. Seated at the head table near Oscar Robertson, accepting a college basketball national player of the year award named for the Hall of Famer, Turner didn't walk out that door three years ago.

"Thank God," Matta said, drawing laughs from the crowd at the breakfast for one of the two national honors Turner accepted Friday morning. He then turned to face Turner. "I really appreciate you staying."

you might want to take a look at the following four guys and their statistics when they played at Ohio State Havlicek, Bradds, Cleamons, and Hornyak.

Evan would still get taken in the top 10 assuming there would be a full recovery, which there is for about every injury in this day(not counting centers whose large bodies seem to cause more recurring problems than a guard's). Some team would still take him high because the loss of him for a half-year or maybe a full-year is still worth the investment when you're talking about a guy who's one of the top 3 amatuer players in the world.
