X-rays negative, Turner expected to be released
X-rays on Evan Turner's back were negative and he is expected to be released from Ohio State University Medical Center later today, a team spokesman said after the game.
"Everything looked good on the X-ray," coach Thad Matta said at the start of his postgame news conference. "They were going to do a CT scan, just check everything internally, but at this point, I?m pretty optimistic he?s going to be OK."
Matta said it was too early to know whether Turner would be available to play in the Buckeyes' next game, Saturday at Butler.
"We'll know more (later) into the week exactly what we?re going to do" at the point guard position, Matta said.
Two other Buckeyes were injured during the game. Kyle Madsen suffered an ankle sprain and played only seven minutes. David Lighty cut a finger throwing down a thunderous dunk in the second half, but Matta said the cut did not require stitches.

Ohio State basketball star Evan Turner, who leads the Buckeyes in points, rebounds and assists, will be released from the hospital this afternoon after X-rays on his back were negative. He is expected to be fine and it sounds as if he'll be ready for Ohio State's next game, a visit to top-25 team Butler a week from today.

Ohio State's Evan Turner goes up for a dunk try against Eastern Michigan today. Turner fell to the court after slipping off the rim and injured his back on the play. X-rays on his back were negative.
Turner went down hard during No. 15 Ohio State's 111-60 victory over Eastern Michigan (5-3) this afternoon, falling on his back after slipping off the rim, his legs going out from under him, during a dunk try with 13:27 left in the first half.
"I think it scared him more than anything," Ohio State coach Thad Matta said.
Turner rolled around on the court in pain before he was attended to by Ohio State's athletic trainers, and then he walked to the locker room very gingerly, but on his own. He was taken to Ohio State Medical Center for the X-rays during the game, accompanied by his family.
"That's a big relief," said Jon Diebler, Turner's teammate and roommate. "It was pretty ugly. He just fell off the rim and it didn't look good, but he can take the rest of today off and we have tomorrow off, and we don't play until next Saturday, so he has time to get healthy."
Maybe I'm totally blanking here but who was #50? Oden was #20 if that's who you you're talking about.Buckeyeskickbuttocks;1613162; said:Did you forget about a certain #50?
You're right, though, the Buckeyes do need Turner - who is, indeed, a supremely talented player.
Turner to Miss Eight Weeks
COLUMBUS, Ohio--Ohio State junior guard Evan Turner has been diagnosed with a transverse process fracture on the second and third lumbar vertebra of his spine. He is expected to miss the next eight weeks, Vince O'Brien, athletic trainer for the Buckeyes' men's basketball team, said.
Turner sustained the injury early in the first half of Ohio State's 111-60 victory over Eastern Michigan Saturday. Turner landed on his back after a dunk attempt. He left the court under his own power before going to the Ohio State Medical Center for tests. He was released from the facility and is home resting.
Turner left the game with four points in seven minutes.
After eight games, Turner led Ohio State in scoring (18.5 ppg.), rebounding (11.4 rpg.), assists (47), field goals (62) and free throws made (22). He is shooting 61 percent from the field (62-102) and was the only Big Ten player averaging a double-double.
Ohio State is off the next week for final exams and will resume competition at noon Dec. 12 at Butler.
