Fred Davis (official thread)

I'm pretty happy things are working out for Freddy. I always root for the home grown Ohio kids, even when they play for other teams. I figure that helps give Ohio a good name and provides opportunities to other kids later on down the road.

IN THEIR WORDS: FRED DAVIS
Southern California feels like home

In Their Words is a weekly feature appearing Sundays in The Blade?s sports section. Blade sports writer Donald Emmons caught up with Rogers graduate and Southern California senior tight end Fred Davis.

Time flies when you?re having fun.

That is how Fred Davis feels these days entering his senior year at the University of Southern California.

He has a ring....mop up or not.

please, osugrad, he's still a failure since he changed positions. I guess you could say that same thing about Stan White Jr. as well. :roll1:

Yeah, but how many blocks did he have? :osu:

Give him credit. That's two more TD than he would've had for his career playing TE at Ohio State.

I think it's funny that this thread is a paltry 22 pages.

After all the grief that a certain segment of the Buckeye fanbase expressed over his decision, I think it's funny that this is the first thing of any consequence that he's done on the field for Southern Cal, and it comes in a blowout against Wazzu. I think it's funny that people have so much resentment for Thread Davis, yet ignore the fact that an even better receiver in that class (Dwayne Jarrett) reportedly backed out of a fleeting commitment to OSU to go to USC.

Finally, I think it's great that OSU has hardly missed both of those guys amid the contributions of guys like Holmes, Ginn, Gonzalez and Robiskie.

agreed. considering how little we missed him, you'd think OSU "fans" would stop trying to rip on him. Then again certain "fans" aren't above that.

BTW, his TDs weren't scored in blowout time. I think he had the first TD of the game.

Well, kudos to him then. Hope he's enjoying the nice weather out there.

Seems like he's enjoying a lot more than the weather out there. He's enjoying being part of the offense of a great team. No hard feelings here...he made a choice that he thought was best for him. Can't really blame him for that.

People are angry with Pete Carroll for reportedly telling Fred that he would be USCs #1 receiver, and not be converted to a tight end. Meanwhile, JT and staff were honest in their assessment that Fred would be a tight end here. I don't know the facts in the bit about Pete Carroll and whether he actually lied, misrepresented, or simply told Fred he'd get a shot at WR and then it became clear to all parties that his best bet was tight end. But regardless of how you feel about Pete Carroll, I'm not sure I understand the vitriolic criticism against Fred Davis.
