Fraternity Members?(Merged)

Ekeen, I was a Beta at Georgia and Oregon State and went to a couple of parties at your house when I was in graduate school at tOSU. Great stuff.

One of the things I liked about the fraternity was that all over the country you were part of something (for better and worse). Same with rugby now. Whenever I travel on business I practice with one of the local clubs or play in a match if it's on a weekend. Anywhere in the world you can shed blood and drink with kindred souls.

I agree Rugby. The best thing about being part of Beta are the lasting friendships that continue after college.

When were you going to parties at the Beta House anway? I might have still been there. I know our composite still hangs in the front hallway.

BTW, it was a rugby player at tOSU that really swayed me toward the house and I am still good friends with him to this day.

I don't recall exactly when I drank from the Cup (it's all a little hazy), but I was at OSU from Fall '91 - Spring '93 teaching, of all things, philosophy, but gave up the University's somewhat less than adequate, but nonetheless appreciated fellowship to go to law school in Atlanta.

BTW, OSU has one of the better college rugby teams in the country, right behind Cal and Air Force.

I went to St Pius in Atlanta, funny you bring that up. I got out of the service in 94 and started at tOSU that fall.

I am sure you knew some of the older guys. You probably heard about the "fight" with the Phi Delts that happened that year. I am actually good friends with a lot of Phi Delts and work with one- ironic.

Hate to jump into this one, but isn't that a contradiction to you calling people losers because they aren't in frats while implying that they don't go to "all the biggest parties with the hottest girls"?

I'm pretty sure you know nothing about them.

Unfortunately, I had gotten much of the undergrad lust out of my system by the time I hit Columbus. I purposefully stayed away from the OSU house my whole first year of grad school; avoidance therapy. At that point I actually gave a shit about keeping the fellowship. I went over during football season the following year and to a couple of parties during the year. Certainly bigger and better than anything at the other OSU and way better than UGA.

Let me know if you find yourself in Atlanta and we'll drink a few. That goes for everyone else as well, should you fin' yo'sef in da ATL.

I appreciate your womanly response but don't diss something you know nothing about.

I don't remember 'dissing' anything directly. I simply pointed out the fact that you were being completely pigheaded in your assessment of non-frat members. BuckeyeNation27 was the only one that came close to 'dissing' frats, and what he said wasn't really that inflammatory. Frats weren't for him. They're not for lots of people. The notion that people who aren't frat members are somehow deprived completely of social excitement is asinine, and (as Rick James was so kind to point out) you are the one jumping to conclusions about shit you're really not familiar with. The thing is, I have nothing wrong with frats other than the number of people that belong to them that are just like you. rugbybuck has managed to defend fraternities eloquently and maturely, stating simply that the specific brand of camaraderie fraternities offer appeals to him. Makes sense to me, and I have thusly said nothing to attack him.

In any event - I know from what little experience I have interacting with you that logic and reason will go nowhere, and that unless I can prove that I have a bigger dick, you'll show no improvement of character whatsoever. So as I said before: Rock on, brotha. lol

Lost in all this hate and hostility is my post claiming to belong to Delta Iota Kappa. Come on poeple.. that's funny stuff. We wore hats that said: DIK Oh well... it was funny to the Papa Joe's crowd anyway and surprisingly a magnet for chicks with low self-esteem. :wink2:

Him saying it's hard to knock something you haven't been a part of is fine and all, but to call someone a "dork" or "loser" because they disagree with frats or whatever is just egotistical and stupid.

Everyone has a preference, so keep it at that. Not call them losers because they aren't goign to the most bad ass parties ever devised with all the super models of the university.....
