No ideally,Herbie would stay with Espin, continue his poor analysis and build his new home in Bristol, not Ohio.I'm sick of people giving him a "free pass" because he played for OSU.And people need to stop trying to claim he is "objective" and start listening to what he actually says.
Poor analysis? Son, what have you been injecting in to your veins? Herbie provides the best analysis of the bunch. Now, you might argue that that
still isn't saying much, considering the competition, but I remind you being the best in your field still makes you the best.
Once again, I feel compelled to say - I don't agree with every analysis Herbstreit gives. I thought his pre-game analysis of NCState v. Ohio State missed the mark badly. I laughed when he said ND was gonna be seriously improved this year. Still, Herbie had his REASONS for making his comments. What's more, he explained his reasoning - briefly, in the time given him (About 30 seconds). I can think of very few... nay.. not one.. other analyst who does so. Most make some grand statement, point to whatever team they are talking about's top playmaker and then say "Joe Blow can't be stopped." That is to say, most, if not all but Kirk, merely hype a player or program and that is the extent of their analysis. They do this to boost ratings for that game. Kirk is guilty of some of that as well, don't get me wrong - comes with the territory of sports broadcasting. No less, when it comes to doing his homework on what he's talking about there are none that come as prepared as Herbstriet.
You talk about this "Free Pass" as if we can't see through your clear homerism. There is a very distinct line between a "free pass" and respecting a guy who gives his best and honest analysis of the sport we all love. If Herbie picked Ohio State all the time, it would be embarrassing. Ohio State doesn't win every game. Kirk's rep is on the line with every pick he makes. When he's on TV he speaks with his mind, not his heart. That is precisely what he should do. I might add, if you ever consider sports betting, you should adopt the SAME friggin policy - bet what the MIND tells you, not what the HEART wants to occur.
It's not wrong to be able to talk badly about a team, or anything, that you love. It's a little thing some people call maturity (Some may even say it's evidence of a good psychological adjustment to reality.)
