Former DC Kerry Coombs (Former Cincy Bearcats Interim Head Coach)

Here are some rough notes I made from the interview above. Coach is a little too positive for me too believe it all, but I really want to:

01:50 Doran is the boundary right now.
02:27 We are going to play more than two corners.
02:35 Conley right in the mix.
07:57 Conley is long, athletic, explosive. Physical strength kept him off he field last year. Intelligent. Can run real well. Long arms. Prototypical press.
14:50 Armani is a good football player. He will be very good this year.

No matter the shortcomings or any other issues that might exist out there, Coombs is a perfect coach for college football. He gets the players and fans excited about the game. If our DB's and special teams get to the top level he'll cement his spot for quite a while.

Love Coombs energy. His 'closing' speech made me want to be a Buckeye (again). Am not too sure that Archie won't steal this guy away and take him on the banquet circuit to speak with big bucks alums about upping their giving.....but from what I saw last year he's not a great X's and O's type of coach. Always thought that S and CB's should be working as a cohesive team (meaning one coach), and thankfully Urban realized that and brought in Ash. Urb cannot completely remove Coombs from the D, as that would negate his value as a recruiter, and it appears that Coombs is still doing pressers as the CB coach. Hopefully, Coombs works on the special teams, as that seems to have holes in it this spring.

Go Bucks!

Good enough for me:wink:! To be fair I'm not sure who did what as far as coaching on defense last year.

I took the time to look at this play in very slow motion.

The reason Gardner was on the ground afterward was because he was hit by the defensive end who broke through a double team.

I always thought Powell just stood in front of the drag route and somehow Gardner did not see him. But I see that Powell really goaded him. The receiver was "wide open" when Gardner threw it, but Powell closed amazingly quickly.

Bosa destroyed him lol

It was also a terrible pass. It was almost thrown behind Powell.

Great call by Coombs! And great play by Powell! But the Game should have been over earlier because Barnett dropped an interception right at the goal line early in the fourth quarter. It was right in his arms.
