Game Thread For the Natty vs ND, “One More, Then Forever”, Jan. 20th, 34-23 Buckeyes!

Advertise a rematch with tsun
Ha.. ok I thought of this kind of.

The championship trophy should be a lifeline if you want. You can use it once the week after you win it to potentially play one team you’d like to play. Only catch is if you lose then you don’t get the trophy back.

I wonder in this hypothetical if OSU would use the challenge on TCUN?

Part in there about MoC is interesting to hear.

We have a lot to discuss on this season on BP but this was a great clip. I can't wait to hear the whole story, but the part that hit home to me is that you bring guys in that have lived the Ohio State experience at a high level. That means bring in Tress, MoC, UFM, everyone that made titles happen because they have already lived what Day was trying to accomplish up until Monday night...the gauntlet was brutal and we did it, but deep down I think having everyone from years' past was really important.

The players and coaches got it done, but by leaning into years of wisdom from true Buckeyes. I love it.

i can see, for example, the clear immediate impact of bringing in tress.

i can see day sounding more like tress with his speaking rhythm, his filler words and pauses, and some of his facial expressions (raising eyebrows for showing emphasis or squinting to show gravity / seriousness, etc.). when he goes into story-telling mode he, he channels tress.

same with the impact from urban... but you can tell that when day's channeling / mirroring urban, he's in a different headspace. he's in the "be resilient", "keep swinging" "hold everyone accountable" hyper-competitive side of his personality. and, just like with tress, when day is channeling urban, his facial expressions, his tone, his cadence and word usage change slightly.

day is "code switching"... conscious and intentional, or not, i don't know. but it shows a clear and direct influence of tress and urban mentoring him.

Define shit behavior. I don’t see it in Herbie. I see it in Des. But beyond that you seem to be suggesting that if your boss was paying you 4 mil, you’d go against his corp guidelines to promote your personal agenda.

It's not that he's not a homer. I don't expect him to be. My problem with him is twofold. First, he occasionally will embrace Ohio State when it's good for his brand as with the crying performance. Usually, however, he will demonize and pile on Ohio State way beyond what might rationally be called for to prove his non-homer credentials. Second, he gets paid to be a double plus good duck quacker for espn's agenda, and that's what he does. Fair enough, but what I can't stomach is at the same time he expects to be viewed as some towering Edward R. Murrow voice of college athletics. Can't have it both ways.
