Football Budgets as a Percentage of Overall University Budgets

By the way, does anyone want to explain to Captain Derp that Revenue does not equal Budget?

This chart doesn't show what the thread title says it shows. It shows how much money each campus makes, and what percentage of that income is derived from football. In short, it explains which brands are most marketable - something that is a good thing, not a bad thing.

I'll agree that football expenditures would have been a better figure than revenues. I still think the overall skews in percentages (and thus values and priorities) would have been the same. It just would have changed the "as a percentage of overall university budgets" number a bit.

Nebraska's place in the top ten of football revenue explains why it was courted into the Big Ten.

I'll say it again. It's the ONLY reason why Nebraska was "courted." And if by "courted" you mean the Big Ten schools snapped their fingers, and Nebraska came running with its tail between it's legs, yes we "courted" you.

What you "think" is irrelevant. And what you believe is also irrelevant. You clearly have no idea what you're looking at with this chart, and you jumped at the chance to spew derp instead of making sure the chart said what you hoped it said.

It didn't, and now you look pretty silly. Have fun with that.

It does say what I read it to say. Just to be precise, I'll go find actual football budgets and compare them to the overall university budgets. I'm sure that Nebraska will still be more of an SEC school than a Big Ten school when the parameters are more to your liking.

And for looking silly, I have a long way to go before I can top Corn Aggy getting tossed out of the AAU.

As usual, your scorn hurts. It hurts bad.

Yet you can't leave this thread alone. It's not like I made a point of going onto some Nowledge board and posting the information.

Jesus, it wasn't even focused on Nebraska. It was more a slam on SEC priorities with a one sentence aside about Nowledge, yet the butthurt starts flowing like a hot dose of heroin.

I would probably leave you alone if your derp wasn't so funny to point out. You make yourself an easy target.

But get cracking on those figures you're researching. Consider this me snapping my fingers. Chop chop!

Thought I had read somewhere that the real money is with the research departments.. and that is why Nebraska made sense, too.

Not positive, but pretty sure that was somewhere on BP a ways back..

Nebraska's place in the top ten of football revenue explains why it was courted into the Big Ten.

You start out alright, and I was going to make the same point. Then you end with nonsense. Most marketable? No, it just means your school doesn't make much outside of football vs. other universities. You can take that as marketable football. I take it as a school that is not doing a good job of bringing in revenue outside of football.

That's definitely true. We aren't even close to being on par with the flag-bearers of the Big Ten, and we know that. We're working hard right now to build our academic prestige, specifically in research, by building an entirely new campus between our two current Lincoln campuses.

Nobody knows Nebraska's shortcomings better than Nebraska. You'll have to bear with us a bit. We'll be a better school five/ten years from now.

So how does this get resolved to your satisfaction?

If LSU and Bammer exceed the 2B mark in Campus revenue in 5-10 years that will obviously drive down their comparison %, would you be satisfied?

It seems like you're upset that their football revenue is so great when their university revenue is very average. Who cares how much LSU makes?

Why do you care about how much he cares?

And I'm only asking that rhetorically, I don't really care if you care about how much he cares.

Honestly, nobody should care what I care about, and if they don't it's no sweat off my tackle. I thought this was an interesting chart that some might also find of interest. And yes, I didn't initially catch that their figures were revenue as opposed to expenses; though I'm willing to bet that expense figures would show no fundamental change in the overall conclusions.

As for the children of the corn, they've really grown on me. Hell, I'd rather boot Ped Aggy before them. They just really need to grow some thicker skin and not get so god damned butthurt at every perceived slight. It's a fucking interweb tube message board (and not even one of their own) full of people they'll never meet in person. It's not like some drunk in-law is ruining Thanksgiving Day dinner by talking smack against the Huskers.
