Florida State Seminoles (official thread)

FSU student government requests ban on Native American headdresses at sporting events

If some students have their way, Florida State athletic contests, football in particular, would have a different look to them moving forward.

According to FSView.com, the Florida State student government voted in favor of a resolution April 20 that “requests that the wearing of any Native American headdresses shall no longer be permitted into athletic arenas at FSU.” Those arenas would include, of course, Doak Campbell Stadium, the home of the football Seminoles.

“The 68th Student Senate does not condone the wearing of headdresses because it inaccurately depicts the culture of the Seminole Tribe,” a portion of the resolution read, adding that the Senate” requests inappropriate use of the materials as listed above, constitute a violation of the Student Code of Conduct.”

No appetite for a ban on rapists at sporting events?

Let's just stick with being offended by Native American headdresses. Millennials are complete and utter pussies.

.

But...but...FSU has already made their position clear on rape.

Which is true.

They don't tolerate sexual assault.

They enable it.

Not the same thing at all.

Florida State dismisses RB Mario Pender following domestic battery arrest

Florida State has dismissed running back Mario Pender from the program after being arrested Saturday. Pender was charged for domestic battery by strangulation and resisting an officer without violence by the Tallahassee Police Department. The domestic battery charge is considered a third-degree felony. Bond was reportedly set at $500. The details of the incident have not been reported.

“Mario Pender has been permanently dismissed from the football team following his arrest earlier in the day,” a statement released by Florida State said Saturday night said. “The Athletics Department will have no further comment at this time.”

Pender was Florida State’s third-leading rusher in 2015 with 140 rushing yards and a touchdown behind Dalvin Cook and freshman Jacques Patrick. The junior has had a rough time since joining the Florida State program despite being a four-star talent out of high school.

Police report: Mario Pender refused to get in police car until Jimbo Fisher arrived

Pender was charged with resisting an officer without violence along with his domestic battery charge, and he reportedly refused to get in a police vehicle until Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher arrived on the scene.

The Tallahassee Democrat
provided the initial details of the Pender incident, some of which were pretty harsh with regard to the domestic battery charge. Per the police report, Tallahassee police responded to a call about an argument about half a mile from Doak Campbell Stadium. The man, alleged to be Pender, was witnessed dragging a woman by her hair outside a house. The caller to 911 suggested this was not the first time an incident like this had happened, although there is no evidence to suggest one way or the other how valid that claim is at this time.

An officer responding on the scene pushed a door down after hearing yelling from inside the house, where he found Pender “straddling the woman with his hands around her neck.” As the sequence of events continued, Pender later refused to get in a police car until his head coach, Jimbo Fisher, made an appearance on the scene.

Knoxville police will no longer make courtesy calls to Vols coaches

No surprise here that unlike in Knoxville, the Tallahassee Police are still making "courtesy call to the football coach".

Fisher calls for uniform scheduling among Power 5 conferences

"Everybody goes to their own neighborhood and makes their own little rules," he said. "I'm for uniform everything across the board no matter what it is: eight-and-2, nine-and-one, 38-and-38. Why can't we uniformly play the same number of games, play the same conference championship, play the same number of Power 5s?

"... It's called common sense."

Why can't women go to FSU and not be raped or beaten by your players? Seems like there should be a common sense solution to that one as well.

Sorry to interrupt the official thread of FSU douchbaggery, but hat tip to WR Travis Rudolph.

http://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...vis-rudolph-makes-mom-of-an-autistic-boy-cry/

Florida State wide receiver Travis Rudolph will be an impact playmaker for the Seminoles offense on the field this season, but on Tuesday, he played an even more important role off the field -- just by taking some time out of his day to have lunch with an autistic middle schooler who normally eats alone.

Rudolph was at the middle school Tuesday afternoon when he spotted the student sitting by himself, so he walked over and decided to enjoy a couple slices of pizza with the boy. Little did he know why the child was sitting alone, nor the impact his simple, sweet action would have on the boy's mother.

Here's what Leah Paske, the boy's mother, had to say on Facebook after she learned about Rudolph's gesture.

"Now that I have a child starting middle school, I have feelings of anxiety for him, and they can be overwhelming if I let them. Sometimes I'm grateful for his autism. That may sound like a terrible thing to say, but in some ways I think, I hope, it shields him. He doesn't seem to notice when people stare at him when he flaps his hands. He doesn't seem to notice that he doesn't get invited to birthday parties anymore. And he doesn't seem to mind if he eats lunch alone. It's one of my daily questions for him. Was there a time today you felt sad? Who did you eat lunch with today? Sometimes the answer is a classmate, but most days it's nobody. Those are the days I feel sad for him, but he doesn't seem to mind.

"A friend of mine sent this beautiful picture to me today and when I saw it with the caption "Travis Rudolph is eating lunch with your son" I replied "who is that?" He said "FSU football player", then I had tears streaming down my face. Travis Rudolph, a wide receiver at Florida State, and several other FSU players visited my sons school today. I'm not sure what exactly made this incredibly kind man share a lunch table with my son, but I'm happy to say that it will not soon be forgotten. This is one day I didn't have to worry if my sweet boy ate lunch alone, because he sat across from someone who is a hero in many eyes. Travis Rudolph thank you so much, you made this momma exceedingly happy, and have made us fans for life!"
