Florida State Seminoles (official thread)

For those interested in what the people in Tallahassee have to say about this:

The local radio guys have their heads so far into the sand they can see China. "Just because he started 11 games last year is no reason to assume that he would have started this year..." is a typical quote from yesterday's offering of sports talk radio here. Quite entertaining in a pathetic, unintentional way.
That sounds vaguely familiar.

So now we know what HTM does for his day job. :wink2:

Bowden still has no desire to retire | news-press.com | The News-Press

"I take it year by year," Bowden said Saturday after a round of golf
at Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers with the Southwest Florida Seminoles
boosters. "I have no desire to quit. Now, I don't plan to be here when
I'm 85. That's five years from now. But I am enjoying it as much as ever.

"People don't understand. A head coach doesn't coach. They hire real
good assistants who work their tail off. Head coaches are but public
relations men, figureheads, decision makers, problem solvers."

Why would Boddy retire? Hell, he has been for years. I'd like 2 million to not coach.

Hell, I'd not coach for several hundred thousand less than him.

I'll be happy to assist, as long as you only expect me to perform as well as Bowden's kid (pick one) did.

There isn't much else to say. A team takes the personality of the head coach and there isn't much personality left in Bobby...or JoePa for that matter.

Florida State will be relevant again, they just need a relevant head coach. There's too much talent in Florida to continually be bad. As a tOSU fan also,, at least I can be happy that we're cleaning up on Florida recruits as well. Once Florida State elevates itself from a punchline, it becomes that much more difficult.

Rivalry smack talk aside, you are dead on Bill. Too much talent in Florida and dynasty history for the Noles to become irrelevant. UF needs your SOS to be high, and the joy of beating you in 97 is exponentially better than beating you last year. A rivalry is not a rivalry if only one side is any good.

the last 5 years of the NFL draft, speaks volumes to how bad the coaching has been at FSU and UM.

You shouldn't have that much talent and be so mediocre. I think Randy Shannon has the ability to make something special out of UM. The talent he's inheriting out of southern Florida is amazing.

As bad as FSU has been, they are still recruiting farely well, and putting a good amount of talent into the NFL.

However, both FSU and Miami continue to be irrelevant as programs. Talent doesn't win games. Good gameplans and development do.

Most all of the athletes put into the NFL by those two teams lately have been on the defensive side of the ball I would bet. Both programs have been so bad on offense the past 4-5 years its almost not funny.
