Florida Gators (official thread)

2015.....10-4 won division, lost bowl game
2016......9-4 won division, won bowl game
2017......3-4 fired

I just think you have to give a football coach 4 years so he has his players, etc.

Anyway, if he doesn't get another HC job, he'll make some school a excellent OC/QB coach.

A football coach NOT named Mike Riley, yes. If not, you have an apathetic fan base celebrating a one point victory against Pur-don't as if they played int eh Horseshoe yesterday.

This firing, however, makes no sense to me. He went to the conference championship two years in a row to get Sanduskied against his old boss, then follows that up with a 3-4 season. FIRE HIM.
Stupid. This would be different if he only has ONE 9 win season....

Re: Florida officials have been meeting with McElwain all day and have asked him to accept less than his $12.76 million buyout and step down as the Gators' coach. A final number on his contract buyout hasn't been determined between McElwain and Florida.

And just why would he want to give them back any money? Hope he subscribes to Fat Charlie's philosophy concerning contract terminations.

Part of the reason might have been Florida's lawyers were looking into the fact that McElawain apparently made up death threats against his family. This could maybe get them out of some of the buyout. So maybe instead of a legal battle he just wants to settle for less?
