Things ain't all hunky-dory down in Gainesville...

The telling part came next, when Florida’s athletic department released this statement Monday afternoon: “The University Athletic Association takes the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and families very seriously. Our administration met with Coach McElwain this afternoon and he offered no additional details.”

That article makes it sound like there's a rift between McElwain and the UF athletics department. Given that in year three, Florida appears no closer to being nationally competitive than they were when he came on, you gotta wonder if his seat may be getting a little warm.

I continue to be baffled by just how awful UF has been offensively this decade. Most surprisingly, McElwain (an offensive coach) hasn't improved upon on the terrible offenses Muschamp shat out.

2011: 25.5 ppg / 328.7 ypg (Muschamp)
2012: 26.5 ppg / 334.4 ypg (Muschamp)
2013: 18.8 ppg / 316.7 ypg (Muschamp)
2014: 27.9 ppg / 367.6 ypg (Muschamp)
2015: 23.2 ppg / 334.9 ypg (McElwain)
2016: 23.9 ppg / 344.0 ypg (McElwain)
2017: 23.7 ppg / 351.2 ypg (McElwain)

7 year average: 24.2 ppg / 339.6 ypg
Muschamp: 24.7 ppg / 336.9 ypg
McElwain: 23.6 ppg / 343.4 ypg

In an age when 30 ppg and 400 ypg is considered "average", that's almost incomprehensible.

The truly ironic part is that after rising to supremacy, primarily at the B1G's expense, they became the B1G overall :lol: Naturally bama remained top dog, but the comparisons are considerable.
