And just why would he want to give them back any money?
It would appear that McElwain's agent, Jimmy Sexton, is also Dan Mullen's agent. Sexton doesn't have a lot of incentive to put in work for an ex-coach that won't get another seven figure gig ever, especially if it's to Mullen's detriment.

True confession: After watching him coach up Colorado State, I thought the Gators hit a home run when they hired him.
I too have heard the same damning things about his treatment of staff and players on the way out. Just desserts.I thought it was a solid hire when it was first rumored -- seemed to be doing solid work at CSU, but then a few things happened ... 1) He apparently treated the staff and players at CSU like trash on his way out the door and napalmed the bridges, 2) At his UF introductory presser he famously proclaimed that he could win with his dog Claribelle at QB, which is in the Charlie Weis 'Decided Schematic Advantage' stratosphere of stupid things to say, and lastly 3) The whole shark-humping ordeal this summer showed him to be incredibly thin-skinned.
Once he even responded to a meme, even just acknowledging it, he showed weakness. Dead man walking from that point on.
2015.....10-4 won division, lost bowl game
2016......9-4 won division, won bowl game
2017......3-4 fired
I just think you have to give a football coach 4 years so he has his players, etc.
Anyway, if he doesn't get another HC job, he'll make some school a excellent OC/QB coach.
Big time knock on Coach Mac was that he was a pretty terrible recruiter. Florida has taken a step backwards in the young talent they have brought in.
They practically already are Tennessee.
i think you underestimate just how bad Tennessee is.
i mean Florida is an embarrassing dumpster fire, and Tennessee would trade places with them in a heart beat.
