Florida Gators (official thread)

Credit card fraud is a federal offense. But according to ESPiN, it isn't that. They used Gator ID to buy books from nonexisting funds and sell them for cash. I assume it's kinda like the buck id transaction. However, buckID gets declined when there isn't enough funds in the account. Guess Gator ID doesn't have something similar, which is foolish. Apparently, they will have to return the funds or the books.

edit: By Gator ID, I mean school ID.
Hmmmmmm, you might want to look into the academic coaches. I'm a faculty lightweight, but I can get textbooks mailed to me as "samples" by all the publishers if I want to take the time to e-mail them. Sometimes I don't even have to e-mail; the books just show up in my mailbox. At least four times a semester I get e-mails from book re-sellers who will buy my "free" books and re-sell them. While I can't see that as a viable job, some folks do and they drive better cars than I do. Just sayin...

Who do you root for in the scUM vs Gator game? On one hand, they're scUM, on the other hand, Jan 7, 2007...

Obvious answer is the meteor, it continues to disappoint however.

In lieu of the meteor I'll be hoping to relish a scUM loss. Big difference from "rooting" for Florida.

If, God forbid, TSUN wins, it's Urban Meyer's fault.
UF apparently can't decide between THREE quarterbacks. What that tells me, is for the umpteenth consecutive season, they will have an offensive black hole playing the most important position on the field. Hate to say it, but I think scUM wins fairly easily.

How a program of UFs stature, located in a recruiting hotbed cannot land/develop ONE competent QB in a decade, is mind-boggling to me. Even Tejas has had better QB play this decade, and they've had trash there.

God gave them his only (other) son and then that was it. Not sure they read the fine print on the deal.

Curiosity led me to look up just how bad they've been, and woof. Below are their starting QBs over the last seven seasons along with their stats:

2010 (184.3 ypg)
Jeff Brantley - 2061 yp, 9 td, 10 int

2011 (185.7 ypg)
Jeff Brantley - 2044 yp, 11 td, 7 int

2012 (146.3 ypg)
Jeff Driskel - 1646 yp, 12 td, 5 int

2013 (170.9 ypg)
Tyler Murphy - 1216 yp, 6 td, 5 int

2014 (179.9 ypg)
Jeff Driskel - 1140 yp, 9 td, 10 int
Treon Harris - 1019 yp, 9 td, 4 int

2015 (206.9 ypg)
Treon Harris - 1676 yp, 9 td, 6 int
Will Grier - 1202 yp, 10 td, 3 int

2016 (215.8 ypg)
Austin Appleby - 1447 yp, 10 td, 7 int
Luke Del Rio - 1358 yp, 8 td, 8 int

So, over the last seven years, they've averaged 184.3 pass yards per game. They've had a qb eclipse 2000 yards TWICE (both the craptastic Jeff Brantley), and the most TDs a QB has slung in a season is 12. That's incomprehensibly bad in an era when offenses easily eclipse 400 yards a game average. And to make matters worse, their running game hasn't even been average during that time. If they can't choose between 3 qbs going into their high profile opener, I can't imagine they'll be much better this year.

Murphy (well as a runner at least he never was a great passer) and Driskel went off to be productive elsewhere

Murphy at Boston College in 2014 - 13 TD/10 INT. 1179 rushing yards 11 rushing TD (appears Florida never properly utilized his running ability)

Driskel at La Tech. 4000 yards passing 27 TD/8 INT

You could say both downgraded in competition. However the fact that they were both able to be capable D1 players elsewhere shows somethings wrong with Florida's Coaching/System over the past 7 or so seasons.

And you can only blame the Decided Seismic Advantage for a couple of those seasons.
