Tailback Kestahn Moore is questionable due to a hamstring injury, Emmanuel Moody will not play because of his continuing high ankle sprain issues. Harvin was held out of practice Tuesday with his ankle issue, and so it looks like Rainey (who it is good to be) and Demps will see some action. Baby Gators got wheels though...
The Gator O-line is hurting, and lots of younger guys are playing new positions. It is critical for Tebow to get the ball off in two seconds. I want to see bubble screens and quick slants and crossing routes by our speed guys, and not have Tim sitting in the pocket waiting for guys to get open on long routes. Tigers are good in man coverage, and their D will get penetration early and often. We need to dink and dunk, and if we even think about going long, it damn sure better be a max protect scheme or Tim rolling out. Personally, I think we need to roll him out a bunch to the same side as our three wide outs.
Defensively, we are better at defending the pass than last year, but - troubling to me - it is not because of pressure on the QB, but because our young dbs are stepping up. LSU will have some time to throw, and they will have a few big pass plays because of our lack of pressure. Also a worry, we will not be able to stop the run unless we go man (we will) and stuff the box. Siler was getting eaten up by failing to cover the little crossing routes until he was moved out of Mike in the second half. I have to think LSU noticed, and I have to think that we will see that until we stop it.
Speaking of that, we will see a lot of vertical running, with LSU trying to run it down our throat early and often. I think that they will have some success, which will set up the play action passing rather well. If we have a db bite on a short curl and our safety is as poorly positioned as last week, a sure six is coming.
Basically, I dread this game. What we do have is the Swamp, which will be rocking....and a boat load of speed in Demps, James, Rainey and Harvin, if healthy. If our OC will open up and quit trying to run 170 guys up the gut we might hold the ball for a while. Our penalties last week were atrocious, and will kill us against a team like LSU. Still, we have beaten LSU when they were more talented before, and they have displayed the ability for erratic qb play. A fortuitous turn over or two and it does not matter if they are better. Meyer hates to lose, and usually has us up for a game after a loss.
