Florida 51, LSU 21 (Final)

On the last fourth down run attempt, it is extremely close and could go either way. Hester was hit in the backfield, and from the video angles, it looks like he almost doesn't make it, or gets a good spot. I remember watching this game last year and thinking the same thing, I wasn't on the field, so I can't say for sure. But it's pretty damn close, it just seems like his knee was down, but maybe the ball made it, I don't know.

Check the 3:32 mark. It's so close. It looks ike he makes the stretch, but his knee is behind the first down marker. Seems like the refs spotted the ball. This was a great game regardless.

That play happened almost right in front of us. Our seats are on that sideline 40 rows up from the field. It was CLOSE!! VERY FUCKING CLOSE!!

All I know is that was a hell of a game to watch in person. I had partial hearing loss for a day after.

Special night (for us at least).
2 juggernauts going at it.
Student section and Tebow exchanged jabs.
The un-fucking-believable crowd eruption (and continued roar) at the USC/Stanford score
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4OpVFtoqRA]YouTube - USC Loss is announced at LSU vs Florida[/ame]

4th down conversions
TENSE last drive.
Tebow with one final chance to win it on the last play.

Best football experience I've ever had. This game shot right to the top of my best experiences in Death Valley. And that's saying a lot considering the games I've been fortunate enough to attend.

LSU lineman targets Gators QB Tebow for take-out duty

Updated: October 7, 2008, 4:42 PM ET
The Florida-LSU rivalry never seems to run short on vitriol. LSU defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois upped the ante this week by vowing that his linemates, if the opportunity presents itself, will try to knock Gators quarterback Tim Tebow, last year's Heisman Trophy winner, out of the game.
"If we get a good shot on [Tebow], we're going to try our best to take him out of the game," Jean-Francois said Monday, according to the Orlando Sentinel's Web site. "With his size and his heart, it's hard to get a clean shot.

"I think every lineman wants to get a good hit on a Heisman Trophy winner."

This year's clash, at the Swamp in Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday night, didn't need the extra hype. It's the first time in nearly two decades that the last two national champions are to meet during the regular season.

Jean-Francois' remark "fires Tim up. Seems a little unsportsmanlike to me," Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen said Tuesday. "Intentionally injuring other players is not part of the game that we teach here."

THere is a difference on wanting to lay the wood to the opposing teams QB, and twisting his knee at the bottom of the pile. Hell, I'd be pissed if any defender didn;t want to lay a good lick on an opposing player, but I would be pissed if he intentionally injured someone. There is a difference, and I don't see Ricky meaning it in a sense that he would intentionally injure Tebow, just that he wants to put a good hit on him.

 Here's to a clean, hard fought classic.

I know it's the Swamp, but what has Florida done to be a favorite here? Not play defense is for damn sure...
The other side of the equation is, 'What has LSU done to warrant a #3/#4 ranking in the polls?' They smacked App St and North Texas, but failed to flex their muscle versus Auburn (which is struggling mightily on offense) and was a bit sloppy vs Mississippi St. Florida, at least, has convincingly handled Miami, Tennessee, and Arkansas, and was cruising toward a W vs Ole Miss before coughing up the ball on two consecutive series four minutes into the 3rd Q.

You figure home field is typically worth a FG, so the experts in the desert are saying Florida is a FG better at a neutral site, while the game would probably be a pick'em if played in Baton Rouge.

Given the body of work of both teams so far, that seems about right to me.

It speaks volumes about Nutriarch and GatoruBet as contributors to these boards that this game (while important) is getting more chatter than the Oklahoma/Texas thread.

Both games are equally important to Buckeye AND Dawg fans - but this one is drawing more attention because of quality outside posters. Great stuff.

All the Texas posters left after tOSU beat them in 2006. A couple have been back from time to time but none stuck around like some of the LSU posters and GatoruBet. I enjoy getting a perspective from outside of Buckeye country.

I think LSU pulls this one out in a classic SEC showdown... final score: 3-2. :tongue2:

While I agree that thus far we haven't done anything to "earn" our ranking, I have to shoot down our next opponent.

They handled a BAD Tennessee team (one that struggled vs. Northern Illinois and lost to UCLA).
Handled a BAD Arkansas team (one that squeaked by UL-M and W. Illinois by a COMBINED 5 points).
Miami ain't "Miami" anymore either.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't dispute that, but my point is they won convincingly. Those were teams that Top-10 caliber teams should beat by two TDs. The Gators did that to all three, by three TDs.

That they did, but I will not compliment the next team on our schedule.
