The irony here being that fossils occur precisely because of sudden, complete inundation that kills life and insulates the detritus from wind/water erosion, scavengers, etc. In a word, catastrophism, not to be confused with gradualism. See: Flood, Noah's.

That is incorrect. Fossilization occurs as a result of many different processes, not as a result of a single catastrophic event (Noah's Flood). Rapid burial is common as a result of processes that are either local catastrophes or that can scarcely be considered catastrophes at all, such as: burial in sediments in a river delta, burial in sediments from a local river flood, burial in a small landslide as along an eroded stream bank, burial in ash from a volcano and burial in a blown sand dune.

Patterns of fossilization are consistent with noncatastrophic processes such as those mentioned above. In fact, if Noah's Flood had actually happened we would expect to see a random mix of all species fossilized together such as Trilobites mixed with Dinosaurs, or on a much broader scale any modern animal mixed with species from the Paleozoic. But we don't this anywhere in the fossil record. How does the Bible explain that?

Come on man, the story of Noah is for kids. You're not supposed to believe that stuff as an adult. It's like the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy. You get to a certain age and realize that there's no logical way those things could be true, but adults tell you that stuff as a child because it's simpler and more fun for you to understand than the truth. Accepting Noah's Flood as a parable or myth shouldn't make God, Jesus or the true message of the Bible less real for you.

Blah blah blah. No animal is going to allow itself to be gradually, slowly, inch by inch, inundated by sedimentary material. If you think so, prove it with live animals. Granted, catastrophism in and of itself does not prove a flood or Noah's flood occurred, but gradual fossilization is not observed whereas any animal's reaction to danger has been and can be.

Gradual fossilization does not refer to animals that are gradually covered by sedimentary material, it refers to a fossil site where remains were deposited over days, weeks, months or years but not all at once due to a single cataclysmic event. Gradual fossilization has been observed on many fossil sites. As just one timely example, I was reading the February issue of Scientific American this week and they had an article on a 70 million year old mass grave of dinosaur and other fossil remains located in Madagascar. After extensive analysis of the fossils, the authors concluded that a large number of animals died off over a period of time (not all at once) near a watering hole and were then covered by river sediment. I strongly urge you to pick up a copy the magazine and do further research and you'll soon realize that all the evidence supports fossilization over hundreds of millions of years due to a multitude of events and not a singular global cataclysmic flood.

This estimate includes both subaerial and submarine volcanoes, about in equal amounts. Emissions of CO2 by human activities, including fossil fuel burning, cement production, and gas flaring, amount to about 22 billion tonnes per year (24 billion tons)
