2024 FL WR Joshisa Trader (Miami, FL. Verbal)

With all the relationships he has at THE Ohio State University, plus an elite passing game, methinks Joshia would fit in well with the good guys.
Agree 1000%.
But Miami will be coming hard and Ruiz will have a meeting that will go like this:

OSU won’t be destroyed if we don’t change it’s just that we won’t be in the top 4 or 5 but maybe 8 to 10. The administration has to decide if we want to change to the unrestrained model. That’s their choice I just root for wins. I can be happy either way.

I know I'm old school, and in the minority, but personally, I like Ohio States position on NIL. If someone does not stop this run away train it's going to destroy CFB. JMO.
Not sure what you mean by destroying CFB. Fans will still be there to watch the product. Sorry, not to derail the thread.
But Trader is from SoFL, so this will be a roller coaster until the very end. And I include Smith in that sentiment too. If Miami has any level of success, Ruiz is going to go even heavier into his bag with other donors.

The administration of OSU has nothing to do with NIL. I'm still confused as to why fans still don't get this. If you want to be mad, aim that anger at the collectives. Smith and Co have no say whatsoever in the model of NIL. It's donors for OSU who have shown no desire to want to pay HS players. The biggest OSU donor rather donate to the arts and medical research.

From what I gather, to be successful doing NIL, all elements of the school need to be operating on the same page.

Apparently Smith won't even share donor information with the collectives.

Nothing about OSU's NIL efforts is coordinated. Much of this is on Smith.

They aren't part of the NIL's org structure but there is coordination/cooperation (or a lack thereof)

It's a combination of all of it. The NIL guys aren't getting the big money together but Gene/admins have been fighting against them as well because they don't want some booster having any influence in their domain.

Ahhh, thanks for the clarification

The term your looking for is alignment. Gene Smith needs to get EVERYONE aligned to a shared vision.

Not certain of your point, 'Gene Smith won't share donor info with the collectives'. l to my knowledge, feel free to correct me, tOSU is independent from the NIL collectives. Now, not to say that 'someone' on tOSU staff doesn't give input to the guys holding the bag, but the donors go to the collectives, and either may or may not, say "I want this to go to the best running back" or whatever. If the donors give without a plan, etc, then the money goes into a pot that whomever controls the collective, doles out to the players. If one recollects the Florida QB commit, he left Florida because their collective reneged on their $1.3 million pledge. School didn't fight it, but gave him his release. Guess this kid coulda sued for 'specific performance', but from what I read, the contract contained a clause that stated 'we can withdraw the offer at any time'. Who in the heck would have signed garbage like that is beyond me....anyway, there is clearly a separation between a university and 'it's' collectives. Also read that the Texas collectives have told the coach, 'you need to recruit this kid', we'll take care of him. Don't know who said it first, but yeah, agree that the NIL stuff will be the downfall of college football. Would like to see an expose on the Texas A&M NIL stuff.......what with all their decommits from their vaunted #1 recruiting class. Go Bucks! PS, may be going against the tide here, but do believe that tOSU is doing the 'right' thing here. PS, looking at the bigger picture, with playoff expansion, believe the Buckeyes will be in the 12 (?) team playoff yearly.
