I'm sure most of you won't agree, but it's time for Matta to go. That or find some better assistants who can produce with the raw talent we get. Matta is a fantastic recruiter, but honestly at best is a decent coach. His record is impressive and almost all of that is due to raw talent like the Oden's, Sullingers, Thomas's etc. This team really bothered me this year. Craft didn't get any better offensively, neither did Scott, nor Amir, nor Lenzelle. Thompson and Q were the only two who looked to progress from last year. Our offense looked putrid today in my mind. Watching Cuse playing, their offense just has so much more flow, movenment, post ups, the whole thing. We are missing that. We didn't have a knock down shooter this year and often times we played to the level of our opponent, which is why I strongly consider taking UD over us in my bracket.
Great recruiter but the man doesn't have a great track record of producing great players from that raw talent like Ohio State should. I appreciate how he put Ohio State bball back on the map, but that was with recruiting not producing great players all that much.
Flabbergasted. Dumbfounded. Perplexed.
Abashed. Amazed. Astonished. Astounded. Blown Away. Bowled Over. Confounded. Dazed. Disconcerted. Speechless. Overcome. Overwhelmed. Shocked. Saddened. Stupified. Staggered. Stunned. Angered.

I asked a question you ignored - You're head of the search committee. Who do you interview? Who do you hire?So almost all of you have nothing to say besides insults. Shocking.

Past that, what kind of dialog did you expect? Many of the responses brought up Matta's excellent record. Many of us have been around long enough to remember tOSU finishing 5th in a 10 team B1G as being the norm, if not worse. And you want to can the coach who has tOSU a perennial B1G contender, normally makes deep runs in the tournament, and does it with class? Because you (and some others) feel this team underperformed? I'm not sure if they underperformed or not, or they just didn't have the talent. I know your comments were ridiculous.
"I'm sure most of you won't agree, but it's time for Matta to go." Your opening statement. Maybe you should read your original post, unless you just believe in revisionist history (per your latest post). Make absurd statements like that, then try to deny it, how can you expect to be taken seriously?First off if you read my original post you see I suggested maybe some assistants be replaced. As for who would replace him, it doesn't matter because he won't be let go. I'm not saying he is a terrible coach, but the lack of talent produced lately is disturbing. If that is evident on how little Shannon Scott developed, Amir Williams, Lenzelle Smith, and Aaron Craft's inability to shoot past a layup, then I guess you are fine with early exits by the Dayton's, the Sienna's, Wichita State. We aren't losing to powerhouse programs, we are choking against some weak competition.
