Ohio State may use Terrelle Pryor to complement Todd Boeckman the way Florida used Tim Tebow to add a change of pace to Chris Leak...

Also... James Laurinaitis' dad was The Animal of WWF fame. And Brian Robiskie's dad coaches for the... uh... the Falcons now? Anyway - you know Brian will be good because his dad is a coach and he'll coach 'em up real good and stuff.

I have tried really hard not to get overly excited about this game due to the utter devastation and deppression that followed the last two bowl games. Now that game day has arrived, I can't help but get fired up for this one.

I'm sure i will get even more excited after i get off work and have a few tasty libations.

Interesting tidbit I found on MotSaG

Here?s a very interesting stat: the average ranking for the passing defenses McCoy saw was 97.25 out of 119 in FBS. Seriously. In order, Texas? opponents ranked 82, 112, 113, 54, 74, 100, 118, 111, 92, 103, 114, and 94th in passing defense. OSU ranks 7th, even including games against top offenses like USC and PSU. No question this will be McCoy?s toughest challenge.

Only 3 teams ranked higher than 90th in pass D. Now I'll concede that those numbers are somewhat affected by the Big 12 being a pass happy conference, but I would guess that the realistic swing caused by that would be maybe 5 spots. 10? I don't think a pass D that would realistically be a top 25 in another conference would drop 50+ places playing 4 top caliber QBs along with 8 games against mediocre teams. Either way, McCoy has only faced one pass D in the top 2/3 of Div. 1A. OSU is a solid top 10 pass D, I don't see McCoy completing %77 of his passes tonight. If we can manage some sort of pass rush, and/or run D/contain, McCoy may find himself in a situation he hasn't experienced since...well, the last time he played the Buckeyes.

Lucky for UT's defense, they didn't even have to play their own offense!

But yeah ... the passing numbers by all the Big XII QB's were absurd, so I have no idea what to make of Texas's pass/rush rankings.

They have not seen a defense like ours all year...not even close.

But they have seen PLEANTY of offenses that our better than ours...so their defense may play better than expected, and their offense may play worse. In my opinion...this will end up being a lower scoring game.

There is a key to this.....Texas loves to run WR screens and outs/hitchs/slants to get their playmakers the ball. The key here will be to tackle in space, because God knows the corners won't be up tight against the receivers tonight.

Another key will be to string out plays like screens and quick hitches so the safeties and LBs can catch up and tackle.

I feel the exact same way. I've tried not to think about the game and didn't really get excited until I put on my gameday shirt before work today.

Can't wait to get home and crack open a cold one!

While this is certainly true statistically overall, they have not seen a RB in the same galaxy as Beanie, and I'd say the player they saw that comes closest to TP in athletic/playmaking ability was Crabtree, who had a big game. Sure, it would be a different ballgame if we had Harrell, Bradford, Maclin, or Dez White, but those teams also need to score 30+ points because they can't play D to save their lives. The bowls have shown that most of the Big 12 teams will give up points aplenty to any team with more than six wins. I'm not predicting that OSU's O will torch UT's D (though that would be way cool!), the 'Horns are a solid team. But, if we can make them play on a longer field than us, and tighten the clamps in the red zone, the differences in offensive output could be leveled.

The biggest key is scoring more points...
