Game Thread FIESTA BOWL: tOSU 21, Texas 24 (01-05-09)

Anyone talking about speed and athletes need only to look at Texas 06. They had an edge in raw speed & athleticism, and on paper had a number of mismatches.
They also had a VERY green Colt McCoy.

This game is blah. UT is a very talented team this year - but so is Ohio State. I really feel we played well below our potential. I don't know what the problem is.. but this team dosen't have the attitude thats needed IMHO. I think there was a lot of behind the scene type of crap going on this season.

Go Bucks.

I hope Tressel has some tricks up his sleeve for tonight. I've said that the past 2 years, though!

[dispatch]Boeckman and Pryor will be on the field at the same time for some plays[/dispatch]

We've always matched up well against Big 12 teams. Even if we lose, we should keep it a lot closer than what 90% of America thinks...

UT also had some very talented receivers and a safety who could really lay some lumber on you, so green or experienced, McCoy wasn't the reason Texas lost.

If they don't have to stay on the field all day, I think the defense will be OK. The problem has been the offensive line play and the lack of a fast wide out. Boeckman's demotion was not due to his failure to perform, but a recognition that without pass protection the offense was going to have to be re-designed. That said, I think Pryor's a better passer than most people realize, but he's still a freshman and the line still can't pass protect and if it weren't for having a back the quality of Beanie we wouldn't have a running attack either. If this one goes in the shitter I think Tressel will have a very difficult time holding on to Bollman. The media already thinks they smell blood.

I hope you're right, but is it really a trick up the sleeve when it's been printed in the media for two weeks prior to the game?

I would be shocked to see us pull out a win, but that's the feeling I had before the Cryami game. I'll take a "heart attack" win!

By the way, I also have a feeling Beanie is going to show us exactly why he won't be back next year.

Totally agree. The Dispatch had an article about this being somewhat of a referendum on Tressel, bit I would say that it's more a referendum on Bollman, especially if the line has a bad day (which I think is the only way that we hava a bad day).

If we are talking about tricks I think some sort of wildcat formation would be the best way to use Boeckman and Pryor. You would have Todd take the snap and either hand it to TP who then could run or pass or have Todd keep it and have a deep pass to Robo.

I agree. If the o-line plays like it did against PSU and Beanie has 22 carries for 55 yards again, I think the Bucks are in for a long night, because UT's offense is more potent than PSU's--you can count on UT having more than 3 points halfway through the fourth quarter tonight.
