Kueller, I really hope that was a comment as to Tlangs spelling of Bueller and not that you didn't recognize the reference. If not, I'm getting a lot older than I thought.
It was indeed an ironic poke at the misspelling of Bueller, since Tlangs was making fun of Buckeye210 for not making sense in the first place.

First I just watched that and I can just remember the feeling of "yes we can finally beat Michigan with some consistence"

Also get off Tebow. Jesus, how can you hate the guy? He's the exact type of person you would love if he was a buckeye. Just because you don't want Archie's record to be shared? Hate to break it to you but sooner or later the record will be shared/broken so if Tim wins it so what? There's really not a nicer guy in college football and you come out and say something about how you hate Tim Tebow more than Mike Hart? Putting those two in the same sentence is an insult in itself to Tebow.

As for Texas being ranked low in pass defense over the years... I'm not saying they're a good secondary but still the majority of the teams in the Big 12 have always been passing teams. So I think thats why their ranking on Pass defense reflects so poorly. Just imagine if we had to play like 4-5 teams that threw the ball 40 or 50 times per game?

Totally agree. Tebow, while a Gator, is a great guy, and plays hard. If he was a Buckeye, we'd all be lovin' him. He is nowhere near the kind of guy Hart is.

Here are the teams that tOSU has played this season that threw the ball 30-50 times or more. Other than the USC game, the results here seem to show that the Buckeyes wouldn't have too many problems. But take it for what it's worth.

USC 30 L 35-3 184 yards
Troy 43 W 28-10 218 yards
Minnesota 36 W 34-21 187 yards
Purdue 51 W 16-3 228 yards
MSU 39 W 45-7 188 yards
Illinois 34 W 30-20 241 yards

And IIRC the pass craze has only recently swept through the plains and changed the Big 12, as in the past it was a very run heavy conference. But I could be wrong.

I edited with the passing yards for each opponent in these games. There is a difference in passing, and passing well, but the Big Ten has "Spread Offenses" as well, the conference may be behind, but it isn't in the Ice Age.

Take these stats at face value, I'm just posting numbers, take them for what they're worth.

There is a difference between passing the ball and passing the ball well. There are 3 quarterbacks in the big 12 that are without a doubt better than every team's qb on that list outside of USC...and there are about 5 that make a good case as well. These big 12 teams have been developing these spread offenses for years now...it's a totally different story.

That's why I said TIFWIW.

These are the teams UTex played, which threw 30-50 or more times. Most all of these games were blow outs beside the Tech and OU games, these are just stats. TIFWIW.

FAU 39 times, 255 yards
UTEP 46, 267 yards
Rice 48, 301
Colorado 38, 217
OU 41, 387
Mizzou 41, 318
TTech 53, 474
Kansas 50, 258
TA&M 35, 269

Closest game UTex had all season was OkSt and they only threw 27 times.

Just based on statistics (with all other years including the bowl game), sacks are a little down when compared to the past five seasons, but points by opponents are low as well (w/o the bowl).

2008 (Opp. Pts - Int - Sack)
157 - 14 - 24
2007
166 - 11 - 43
2006
166 - 21 - 38
2005
183 - 6 - 44
2004
219 - 15 - 24
2003
229 - 15 - 37

Well I think our passing defense IS better though I'm just saying there's a difference between Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Missouri, and even K-state. Then to NW, Purdue, Illinois, etc

I think our secondary is head/heals better than Texas' but I'm just saying don't sell Texas short because it's not like they're rolling out walk ons. I just think it's more to a credit to the teams they are playing. Also they do blitz more often so I think they leave themselves vulnerable a little in the back end with more man to man

Precisely. BukIpower has the right idea. UT's problem is NOT TALENT! It is youth. Physically they can stick with anyone. In a couple of years this secondary will be every bit as good as tosu's this year if they develop at the same rate. Ohio State's receivers are going to have to be really shifty and use their experience because they won't be getting the kind of separation they are used to seeing against our secondary.

Yeah I agree it's mainly IMO the talent of the teams Texas is playing etc. However, if there's something going in our favor it's that we're not playing a defense with all americans in the secondary. While I think Texas is talented in the back end I also think because they're young we win our share of battles. Going back against the teams OSU has struggled against the common theme is they've been able to essentially lock our recievers down. LSU, USC, and Florida all had/have extremely talented defenses IMO more so than Texas. All i'm saying Texas is definatly not as bad as the ranking indicate but they're certainly not going to be the best the bucks have faced either (USC). I think Texas' back 7 against our passing game should be an interesting match up and IMO I think we're gonna have more room to operate than the past two bowl apperances for tosu.

I'd say a balance of probably 200 yards passing (which is a lot considering we don't pass as much) and 150-200 yards rushing is what I expect. I'd rather see 250 passing and around 175 rushing but hey thats why i'm writing this post at 2:00 am and not a coach.
