FB/LB Zach Boren (Official Thread)

Recorded and watched the 2 hour condensed replay of the Wiscy game and Boren really did a good job leading the way. He went head on with Boreland all night long, pancaked his ass more than once, and we rushed for over 250 yards.

Everyone do yourself a favor and re-watch Boren on the the 2nd and goal play after the blocked punt.

He just demolishes some poor Badger LB to the point that I can't describe it eloquently enough to do it justice.

The Ozone's Tony Gerdeman said that on one play, after Boren obliterated a defender, they were going to need dental records to identify him.

First and ten. Boom finds a big hole up the middle for 16 yards. Zach Boren blasted somebody. Gonna need dental records to identify this dude. Ah, it was Borland. I saw his jersey imprinted on the rubber turf.

Offensive as a blocker, could Ohio State's Zach Boren make an impact as a linebacker?

This is an optical illusion, as Zach Boren isn't the focus of Braxton Miller's attention on this run play against Colorado earlier this season. As usual, Boren is looking for someone to hit to fulfill his role as the Buckeyes' top blocker. But could he also fit in as a hard-hitting linebacker as well?

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Zach Boren is a linebacker. He just doesn't play the position at Ohio State.

But when the Buckeyes suffered some linebacker injuries and were getting run over by the Wisconsin offensive line in the first half a year ago, Boren found then-linebackers coach Luke Fickell on the sidelines and told him he was ready to go in. When more injuries flared against Minnesota a few weeks later, Boren reminded Fickell again.

When Mike Vrabel arrived as the linebackers coach this season, after Fickell was elevated to the top job, Boren started joking with the new coach. Now Vrabel jokes back -- and tells Boren the only way he will ever play linebacker is if he gets down to 240 pounds.

Boren is at 256 as a third-year starting fullback. The junior is one of the best football players on the OSU roster, no question.

Last week, after playing 60 of the Buckeyes' 70 snaps on offense; taking part in serious blocking collisions on 32 plays; running into Wisconsin middle linebacker Chris Borland, the type of linebacker Boren could have been, on seven snaps, and once knocking Borland straight onto his back; taking an accidental hand through the facemask in the second quarter that he said came from Borland and created swelling around his eye that made it difficult to see and eventually "started bleeding really bad," later turning into the black eye that he's sporting this week, Boren felt the urge again.

On the last play of the game, with the OSU defense trying to preserve a win, Boren said, "I wanted to go in."

I'd like to see more passes going Boren's way again. Hell, I'd like to see more passes... period. But, Boren has proven to have good hands and solid wheels. Using the TE's and FB's/TB's more in the passing game would open more things up down field. What better game to try some of this out than Indiana??? Come on, Bollman! Put down the pee wee football playbook and open things up!

U-M post-game celebration upsets OSU's Boren
November 26, 2011

ANN ARBOR, Mich. ? Michigan ended seven years of frustration against Ohio State on Saturday and its postgame celebration wasn't appreciated by at least one of the Buckeyes.

As time ran out in the 40-34 thrilling victory, Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson took the ball and tossed it into the air. Robinson and some of his teammates then fell to the Michigan Stadium field on their backs, just as some of the Buckeyes were coming across the field to meet them.

Ohio State's Zach Boren, a junior running back, thought it was a classless move under the circumstances.

"I lost so much respect for Michigan after they won n threw the ball in the air acting like it was a grenade," Boren wrote in a message he posted on Twitter. "This is a great rivalry and to take it to that level of disrespect is just so uncalled for. Act like you have won before n treat this rivalry like it should be treated."

And this is coming from someone who (reportedly) grew up as "die hard scUM fan".
