...remember when people were saying we recruited Z Bor only because of his brother?

Justin has been great but wow, so has Zach.

any more Borens out there???

I'm guilty of this, sadly. But to be fair, he was recruited as a linebacker and we were loaded (with better talent) at the position. Glad they switched him to fullback because he's everything you would want at that position.

The combo of Zach blocking for Boom for another year should have us all very excited! I've scoped in on Zach's blocks more and more. Very entertaining! Why did it take us so long to realize/get the value of a great blocking fullback? Why didn't we have one this good sooner?

My brother's roommate is a pick centrel grad so I had heard all about Zach when we were recruiting him and Justin. He said it would be a travesty to put Justin on defense because he is so nasty with the ball in his hands. I love seeing him get dump off passes in the flat, but I never expected him to be this great at blocking. Stud.

I thought Justin was on the Oline. Guess I missed where they moved him to RB/FB. :p

We have had a lot of good blocking fullbacks over the years. I just think we should reward them a little more and feed them the pill every now and then. We haven't handed the ball to a fullback in ages. Keep him happy and probably bring a smile to a lot of us old schoolers not to mention surprise the crap out a defense.

Meet a Buckeye: Zach Boren

Zach Boren should get rid of his football helmet and slap on a hard hat, because he is the construction worker of the Ohio State offense. The sophomore fullback's jackhammer approach to blocking often creates cracks in the opponent's curb, and tailback Daniel Herron has been the beneficiary of late. But as Boren - younger brother of senior left guard Justin Boren - reveals, such a physical job has its price:

Q: How long does it take you to not feel sore after a particularly active Saturday of paving the way?

A: My head usually is still ringing into Sunday morning at least. My head and neck start feeling better about Sunday night or so. My body is still hurting, but it gets better usually by Wednesday or Thursday.

Q: Did you measure your height before the season started?

A: Yeah, I was at 6 feet, 1/2 inch.

Q: What are you now?

A: Not sure exactly, but probably shorter. (laughs)

I would love to know what Zach was saying to Cam Heyward on the sidelines last night before the last couple of defensive series.

This kid has future captain written all over him!

A fullback carries!

Here's how free-wheeling the offense got: Fullback Zach Boren was accorded a carry, the first by an Ohio State fullback since the 2007 season.

Boren also had two catches, but that was nothing novel - he'd caught seven passes going into the game. In OSU's offense, though, the fullback is almost always blocking for a running back, in pass protection or flaring as an outlet receiver.

"It was nice to get a carry; I just wish I could have made more out of the play," said Boren, who gained 2 yards on the fourth-quarter dive play.

No pain, no gain

Fullback Zach Boren spoke of the emotions after the victory had settled in, signaling the end of a hard-fought game in which the offense fell into a slumber for a while in the second half after taking a 28-7 lead.

"I know everyone is just hurting just because of how physical and how draining that game was," Boren said. "But when it comes down to it, we are all so happy because we had to deal with so much SEC stuff and things like that. We beat one of the better teams in the SEC. I know they hung in there with Auburn, and they should have beaten Alabama. So we are all just relieved to get that win."
