Buckeyes - have been my favorite team since I saw them beat Mizzou (yes I'm from Missouri) when I was a kid

Sparty Basketball - Izzo is one of my favorite college coaches

NFL - Chiefs fan, after that I'll root for Buckeyes in the NFL

NBA - no real favorite team more of a players league, I follow more closely in the playoffs

MLB - St. Louis Cardinals: The Wizard, Albert Pujols(they better resign him)

NHL - I don't really follow until the playoffs/Stanley Cup

Missouri Tigers - follow them because I go to school there, laugh every time they get everyone excited and then lose and the fans don't give a shit anymore

MLB-Chicago Cubs. They were grandfather's favorite team I used to watch the games with him before he died on WGN.

NBA-Portland Trailblazers. They were the first NBA team I saw play and I was living in Oregon at the time and I've never been able to shake them as a favorite team.

NFL-None.

Buckeye football because it reminds me of my childhood, going over to my grandparents house and watching the games with the whole family, grandma's food and a general sense of well being.

College basketball-Arizona Wildcats. They played in the Great Alaska Shootout in the late 80's when i was living in Alaska and I met Lute Olson and some of the players and watched them win the tournament.

Ohio State - I'm from Ohio. I attended, but didn't graduate. It's one of my biggest regrets. I had football season tickets. I had basketball season tickets. I attended hockey games. I was active on campus. I just didn't work out for me though. I transferred to another institution when it became apparent to me that after a major change and some bad luck trying to get into some pre-requisite classes for several quarters that it was going to take me until the end of my sixth year to graduate. By transferring I was able to finish by the end of my fourth year and complete a second major. It still doesn't feel right though. My goal now is to one day earn a Ph.D. in my field from OSU.

Cincinnati Reds - Being originally from the Dayton area, this was the local team. I remember being seven years old, opening wax packs of baseball cards looking for my first one of a Reds player. When I finally found it, it was Dave Concepcion. Saw my first game in person in 1990, and got to see a World Series win later that fall. Kept a clock radio under my pillow to listen to Marty & Joe on WLW when I was supposed to be asleep.

Cleveland Browns
- I've never even been to Cleveland. I'm a Browns fan because of estranged father - I don't know if he's even been to Cleveland himself. I'm from his second marriage - he's older than the fathers of most other people my age. Back when he was coming of age, there were no Bengals, the Colts were in Baltimore, and the Browns were winning championships. He passed his fandom on to me just in time to see The Drive and The Move.

Cleveland Cavaliers - They're Ohio's NBA team. They got cursory coverage in my area growing up because of Wayne Embry (he went to my high school). After the LeBron thing though - I still follow the Cavs thread here on BP but that's about the extent. I don't have too much desire to watch anything from the NBA now.

Columbus Crew - They're the local team, and I love soccer. I've found them much more difficult to follow now that I no longer live in Columbus though.

FORMER: UK Basketball - I came of age watching basketball when UK was on the rise again (unknown to me at first, coming off probation), in an area with a ton of displaced Kentuckians and UK fans. I really admired them for that game they lost to Duke and Christian Laettner. I got hooked the next season watching Jamal Mashburn and Travis Ford and talking basketball with my friends and teachers at school, many of whom were already UK fans. My favorite player was Derek Anderson - for those who remember him, you'll know why he might be a favorite for somebody who had split allegiances such as mine. I quit on UK when Tubby Smith was forced out, never to return as a fan. I thought that was a disgrace and I didn't want to be associated with it, regardless of what wins or losses came after it. The hiring of guys like Gillespie and Calipari have done nothing to make me question my decision. I know some people are going to give me hell for perceived bandwagon tendencies, but I don't give a shit.

NOT REALLY EVER: Hockey: I'd root for the Blue Jackets if I cared about the NHL. I love Olympic hockey though, and if a Big Ten Hockey conference ever gets off the ground with more complete BTN coverage I'll probably become a hockey fan more than once every four years and the occasional BTN telecast.

I'll give you credit for dumping UK hoops. I remember your old BP sig with all of the UK info listed along with Buckeye info, so I'm sure it used to mean a lot to you.

Now if you went back to being a UK fan with Calipari there, you'd deserve all of the grief you'd get.

Ohio State- Have lived in Pickerington since I was three, so all of my memories have been here and I've grown up around all OSU fans so I've been a buckeyes fan almost of all of my life.

Bengals- It was the Titans until Eddie left, then I didn't really care but I started to pay attention to the Bengals the year they made the playoffs in 2005. Been a big fan ever since.

Reds- My entire family is all about the Reds so I am too. It goes OSU 1a, Reds 1b. I love them with a passion though.

Lakers- I never watched basketball until second grade and when I did it was during the Shaq/Kobe three-peat. I kind of fell off from them after the Kobe incident, but about two years later I started to watch them again.

Blue Jackets- They're in Columbus so it's all the hockey I've ever known.

THIS

i forgot this. prolly 2nd to buckeye football

If there's anything that is possibly better than the Stanley Cup playoffs.... it's Olympic hockey.

(I'm not counting Buckeye games in this, hard to compare single games with long, grinding, awesome playoffs)

College....Michigan and Kentucky. Can't really explain Michigan. I was kid, saw them on TV and thought the helmets looked cool. Never looked back. As for UK, the wife and I moved to Lexington for about 4 years in the early 2000's for her job. That town will suck you in. Great basketball town. I'll always hold a special place in my heart for that school after living there.

NFL. Rams fan. Been following them since LA and Jim Everett, Flipper Anderson and Dickerson. Must have been a helmet thing again.

MLB. Sox fan. My wife is from KC so I keep up on the Royals too. Been following Boston since high school.

NBA. Follow players mostly as opposed to actual teams. Growing up, I hated MJ and loved Dominique, so my favorite team was Atlanta. After he left the Hawks I was in limbo for awhile until CWebb went pro. Then I followed the Warriors, Bullets/Wizards, Kings, and then Detroit. After he retired I started following Lebron and the Cavs. Now I'm following the Heat.

Don't watch Hockey

I do follow the Crew for the most part, but abroad i'm a Chelsea fan.

This post makes me wonder, what's the opposite of a GPA? :tongue2:
