These are the All-American Bowl combine results. Lambert beat Ginn in the 10 yd dash (manual only, Ginn got him using F.A.T.) and the Pro Agility Run. Lambert is a very good athlete, but I think that these results show that Ginn is the faster of the two.
I must be misreading this. Ginn ran a 4.79 40 in the F.A.T? Not sure what that means. Is that meters v. yards?

There are certain kinds of speed, and it is rather rare when someone has all of them. I term speed in many different categories, there is fast, quick, agile, and smooth. Ted Ginn could be described by all of these words, I have a hard time thinking of anyone that I could compare him to, the only one that quickly comes to mind is Tim Brown back in the day. Desmond Howard was a great athlete but wasn't very fast. Joey Galloway was ultra fast, and quick, but had shorter strides. Robert Smith was also very fast, but didn't have that 6th gear that Ginn has.

I think that if you roll up all of these guys into one body and slap a Buckeye helmet on him, you have Ted Ginn.

I will say this one more time so everyone understands. Ginn is a long strider. He doesn't look that fast if you are watching him from the ground on a side view. If you watch him from a elevated view he will look a hell of alot faster. When he is running with(most of the time past) another runner(player) thats when you can fully appreciate his speed.

I have seen Joey Galloway play football live several times when he played with the SeaHawks. I have seen Ted Ginn play live several times.

Are the close to the same speed? Yes Is Ginn faster? Yes Does Ginn have better agility because he is a hurdler? Yes

Remember Ginn is only 18 years old. He will only get faster. I'm not taking anything away from Joey Galloway because hes one hell of an athlete but Ginn is "very rare" maybe "once in a lifetime" for a coach.

I'll put an end to this. Attached is the clip I made of Ginn's TD slant pass against MSU. Note how Ginn totally blows away #31 Jaren Hayes, who supposedly has run a 4.32 40 per The Enlightened Spartan (note Hayes was recruited as a running back and moved to defense before the start of the 2004 season).

Ginn TD Pass vs. MSU

Make sure you "right-click and save" the Ginn clip vice simply clicking the link. For some reason only half the clip downloads if you try to access it directly.

I don't like the whole 40 yard time measurement. Suit them up in full pads and start at one goal line to the other. Ginn by 3 yards over anybody.
I say 5 yards at least.

What about Deion Sanders in his prime. Some say still has that speed.

mili good work thats awesome. i was sitting with a bunch of msu people around us and i was like "gone" and they guy goes..."what.....shit, fuck, damn..." we were talking football bc i got to the game a good hour early to watch msu warm up and stuff, and the guy was bragiing about 31 and his speed, and i was like uh, yeah well we got a lil speed too, chech out #7 and he showed up for me.

also at the end i cant cpature the image cuz im a tard, but the look on the lady in the pace/fraser jersey is classic. 75% of the crowd had theri hands on theri face in shock, the other 25% was going shit ass crazy.

I remember reading that Tressel was asked what Ginns time was.. and JT replying that he didn't want to insult TG by timing him.. but he looks like he runs as fast as he wants to.. whatever gear that requires at that moment...

Back in the mid 70s, Akron had a Caucasion DB.. Doberzynecki (sp?).. who was timed at the combines in something like 4.12 ... not sure what happened from there... but I think he ended up in the Browns camp.. probably met Mike Pruitt head on in practice and was killed...

Reading an article on Paris Campbell and his 4.38 and thought it would be interesting to ump this thread. Anybody know the speeds of some of the other kids? (Or did I miss another thread on this?)

BTW - Campbell will be in his second year in the program during spring ball and will STILL be 17 years old.

He's my dark horse to break out in some way next year. Just need to find a position for him. Is he a RB, WR or Pivot?

Yes.

He did all his reps at H back this year but that spot is about as competitive as QB right now. Still awfully young. I see him at WR but not coming into his own until 2016.
