Fan Behavior and KH's Apology (Merged all)

"Oh yeah.... well I saw a Texas fan cut one of our fan's head off after the game!!!"

And immediately afterward, I apologized to the corpse of the fan and told the longhorn to stop doing that. What's your point?
:slappy: :slappy:

Great response!!

The point is, it's a bunch of he said she said just getting rehashed.

This thread can be summed up in one sentence, "There are jerk fans everywhere that don't represent the population of fans as a whole."

I don't condone bad behavior at road games but you have to expect a good bit of it when entering hostile territory.

The point is that you have bad apples everywhere, and while that is not acceptable what you claim happened, it's a fact of life that some people are assholes.

I guess part of the reason that I question where the blurred line is with you is that you were not on here before that game talking about it, but you show up here today three days after the game saying you were attacked. I'm not saying it makes it untrue, but odd in my opinion.

I have followed OSU on the road several times. I have been treated badly, but have to honestly say that I have seen much worse treatment given out by OSU fans than I have ever received.

FWIW - I personally witnessed an OSU fan throw a Texas fan's hat from the upper deck (he was eventually ejected). After the game I heard students in the dozens shouting "F... Texas" and saw at least two imminent altercations between OSU and Texas fans where the Texas fans were alone and isolated and the OSU fan was backed by a crowd.

Other than the irritating practice of holding the "Hook 'em Horns" sign in the air (not in anyone's face) I witnessed nothing from any Texas fan that I would consider confrontational.

This isn't isolated. It is not the only instance or the only game that we have received this kind of feedback. I am tired of readning this crap and tired of being embarrased by these punks.

It may happen elsewhere, but my personal experience is that it happens more here than most places.

Time for Karen to step up and make herself unpolular once again.

I acknowledged in my original post that I accept that some fans of all schools, including Texas, are assholes, but it seemed that with OSU it crossed the line from "some" to "most" or a "very large minority".

Also, I never said I was attacked (unless having a water bottle thrown at me falls under attacked), but did say that 1) a large number of assholes did scream some crazy hate-filled shit at me and everyone else in orange around me, including actual threats of violence, and 2) there were times I feared for my safety. I will stand behind both of those statements.

If the fact that I am on here for the first time 3 days after the game makes my story suspect, then so be it. I suppose there are several possiblities on that one- First I had a great experience with all the fans and we won the game, but for some reason I've got a bad case of sour grapes, so I find a buckeye site and make up a bunch of stuff.

Second, I'm really a closet Michigan fan posing as a longhorn to slander OSU.

Third, I spent all day Sunday traveling back home, and all day Monday catching up on work since I got absolutely nothing done last week when all I could do was think about the game. On Tuesday I finally get some free time and think "hmmm, I wonder what they are saying about the fans on the buckeye sites". I type buckeye football forum into yahoo, find this site and this thread and decide to post on my personal experience over the weekend.

I'll let you decide which is the most plausible.

I've been going to OSU games for over 20 years. Besides a couple of "Fuck Michigan"s (ahem, sometimes uttered by me) I have never seen any behavior detailed here and on BN. I would intervene too, make no mistake. The fact that these incidents are so widely reported makes me think they are in fact happening. This is not acceptable for a proud institution like our Ohio State University.

Not acceptable.

I think the main point that Horns fan is trying to make is "no one stepped in". That is even more unacceptable. No one wants to confront a drunken asshole, but this is people's safety we are talking about.

Unacceptable.

I agree entirely. My point is that there is more to this story. It is always easier for the visitors to accuse/recount than the home fans to defend/rebut...and we all know that internet message boards have never spawned any form of wildfire rumors

How about the asshole texas fans in my section that wouldnt shut up. With their stupid little horns sign, saying things like "NOW YOU OHIO BOYS ARE LEARNING HOW TO PLAY FOOTBALL!" and various other retarded comments. Basically, these assholes wouldnt shut up. And dont give me that "they bought a ticket, they have the right to do that" crap, they still know where they are.

I'm sure there was a lot of uncalled for stuff happening from the OSU fans... I've seen bad stuff at scUM games, and folks were hyped more for this game than the typical scUM games...

This is the reason we play scUM at noon... if it were a mid-afternoon or evening game there would be riots... no question in my mind...

I know several people that went to campus at 7:00 am to start their parties... nothing but a drunken Stuporwould be left 13 hours later... I can only imagine the behavor of the students (not good at all, with that much time to drink and pump each other up)...

So by "most" you would say that you counted over 50,000 fans being assholes? I mean that is allot of people. I mean did you think that every time an OSU fan yelled it was directed at you? Because if you think that all the yelling was directed at you your either a)very self centered, or b) vince young. I mean if you heard someone yelling fuck you and it was an ohio state fan they may have been yelling at their buddy who just knocked the full flask of captain morgans all over the ground, because I did see that happen. Just trying to figure out your point of reference is all.

As for you three choices the only one I can eliminate is b) because scUm fans wouldn't be smart enough to find this message board and then register.

Again I really am sorry you had a bad experience, but once again, don't think that just because you saw a few assholes the other 100,000 people that are there were assholes to.

Their stupid little horns sign was speaking? Or was it like those people who paint little mouths and eyes on their fists, and move their thumb?

You really have a short fuse. "Your section"?

Oh8ch- I'd never really thought about that, but i suppose it could be annoying to opposing fans having a bunch of us doing that. If it helps, I can promise you it is not meant as a sign of disrespect to the opponent, but only as a cheer for us. Now if some jackass throws them in your face, then it is meant as a sign of disrespect, and I hope nobody did that.

There were 105,000+ people at The 'Shoe. If only 10% were being abnormally rude and obnoxious, then that's still over 10,000 troublemakers (roughly equivalent to the population of a small town such as Coshocton, Ohio, or Jasper, Texas). A relatively small percentage of hooligans can easily spoil the game day experience for a lot of other folks. I'm not sure what the solution is - maybe the other 90% could do more to police our own so that we are not all tarnished by the minority who are intent on damaging our colelctive reputation.

EDIT:

We could start be learning to be a little bit more civil on this board....

Nah, just sticking their little hook'em horns hand sign in our face after a big play and stuff like that.

Not really a short fuse, just dont see how these fellas do this crap, when you know they will be the first ones to bitch when an OSU fan says the "steers and queers" saying at them.

All I'm saying is that its fine to root for your team, and Our fans shouldnt be assholes, but, keep in mind what city and what stadium you are in. I think Hook'em horns guy realized this after he was heard saying "Man, I wanna sit down by the band, not up here by all these pussies" and I told him to shut the fuck up or I would throw him down to where the band was.... He left on his own power shortly after that.
