Yeah I sold them for some damn reason. I wandered around before doing the fire part of the challenge and forgot that I needed them.

The Broc Flower and the Xander Root? If you wait a few days you may be able to go back to the schoolhouse and cemetary and pick them up again. Otherwise theres other locations you can pick them up from. The roots can be hard to spot, but Broc Flowers spring up in various locations. Theres also a Broc Flower cave south of Novac, or east of the Legion camp nearby.

I sold them to the guy in Goodsprings and bought them back from him. Would anyone else enjoy this game if it was able to be played via multiplayer? Where your friends could join you to help you complete challenges, but you could still carry on your story via single player.

It would be pretty sweet to be able to play the game online with people like that. Bethesda always cops out when the subject comes up. They feel as if they could not do a multiplayer Fallout/Oblivion justice and they prefer to focus on a Single Player adventure. I'm sure they could do it well, but bringing in an online aspect almost always takes away from a single player mode. Less story, less polish, less to do as a whole. I'm pretty happy with Fallout New Vegas thus far. I haven't run into as many hilarious characters, but the difficulty is harder and theres more old skool Fallout references and feeling, which was missed in Fallout 3.

Some of the original Fallout creators are supposidly still running the company Interplay and had retained rights to create a Fallout MMO that was going to be titled Project V13 I think, but they were in a lawsuit with Bethesda because their window to start development passed, or there was some debate whether it had started or not so Interplay lost the rights or something. Based on the info below, Interplay seems to be operating as if they still have the rights and are saying 2012 for a release date...sketchy

Q for the PC gamers. What graphics card would you recommend today? I'm thinking about something around $100(ish).

Currently got a 512Mb 4350 in my box and since I sold the PS3 (and our new 360 is exclusively my stepsons) I'm going to throw a better video card for the Fallout series into my box.

It's a Q6600 quad core at 2.4Ghz with 4Gb PC2-6400 and dual 300 Gb WD Velociraptors. Windows 7 Ultimate. Would like to maximize the graphics based on the Q6600, since I'm not really in the market to upgrade the processor & and the CPU this close to Christmas, and not overspend with the processor becoming a bottleneck.

The ideal would be to run the FO3 franchise at 1650x1080 w/ detail, or close to it. I'm assuming the 4350 won't cut the mustard, but I haven't tried yet. Just wondering if the Q6600 with a newer video board would handle it?

ATI HD4850 or NVidia GTS250 (I would lean to the 4850 as the better card). The only negative is they are both DX10 cards. If you want DX11 you will need to go ATI 5750. Yet it won't be as powerful as the 4850.

All of the above will be able to do Fallout 3 maxed out 1650x1080, although the 5750 might have trouble with anti aliasing.

You could also look into the used market.

As far as the processor, it might be a little slow. Yet honestly I don't think it's a bottleneck for a $100 GPU. You don't run into that until you hit the higher level GPUs or you have a really old core duo (not Core 2) or single core processor.

Note: Fallout 3 and most games are still DX10. DX11 is just for the future. It's not that important, but does have some cool features if used in a game. The best thing is it does a better job of creating cylinders/circular objects. If you ever noticed in games, most cylinders are not cylindrical but 8, 10, or 12 sided objects not cylindrical (kind of annoys me, and nice to see that improved for DX11).

My laptop runs Fallout at 1400x900 at max settings without too many problems. I was having some lag during conversations for some reason, but I put a new .dll in place off of the New Vegas Nexus mod site, and that seems to be gone now. The laptop has a 9800 GTX card, so it's a little older, but I know you can get one for a little under $100. I bought one a year ago for my desktop at $100.

As far as losing Karma for stealing things, you don't lose a whole lot for a few things. Unless you're casing entire houses everywhere you go, you'll hardly notice the Karma hit. As a rule of thumb I normally don't steal anything that isn't worth at least 30 caps or more, so usually only weapons, ammo stacks, armor, and lightweight items like Cigarettes.

Should I be worried about losing karma when contemplating stealing a lot of things?

Overall karma may have an effect on the ending cinematic, but no other real effect. Reputation with each faction is more important.

Obviously if it's red there is supposed to be a karma hit. Although sometimes I did not get one. I finished all the quests at the Silver Rush, and their stock of energy weapons and ammo started to get real crappy. So I decided to kill them all and take all their stuff (they have a ton of stuff just laying out). I made a ton of money off it all, and no loss in karma even though everything was red. That wasn't true in other places, even with characters that were supposedly bad/enemies.

So who knows. I stole a bunch of stuff and still ended up with good karma.

For those that are playing the PC version and using Rose of Sharon Cassidy as a companion, her quest Perk is bugged. If you complete "Heartache by the Number" using the civil option, she's supposed to get +50 points of Maximum Health, but it's borked. Instead she gets +50 points of Current Health, which is completely useless after she takes 50 points of damage.

I created a mod to improve this "Calm Heart" Perk by changing it to "Alcohol Anesthesia." Basically it adds to her Damage Absorption to make her a little tougher. The mod can be downloaded here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36488#fileanchor

Picked up Vegas today for the PC, what are the best sites for mods and info?

I think the last game like this I played on the PC was 2006.

My comp should run the game fairly well, I just hope I don't have too many issues.

I have some time today, so I fired it up and I had my first crash. Everything is smooth until I get to Primm and talk to the NCR guy by the entrance. As soon I as I approached him it crashed to desktop.

Hope this isn't a pattern.

I'm going to update all drivers now to see if that helps a little...

So far it feels exactly like Fallout 3, which isn't a bad thing.
