F Marc Loving (Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario - NBA G-League)

12) @Bowsher - 24 points and 9 rebounds
13) vs. Rogers - 20 points

He looked great in both games. The Bowsher game was a typical high school game where one team is good and one is great. The Titans just took over in the second half and eventually pulled away, Loving was the catalyst here. The Rogers game was a whirlwind; the final was 100-81. When's the last time you saw 100 points in a regulation high school game? Cheatum Norrils, the PG, controlled the pace, but Loving hit the big shots when the Titans needed them. He is now averaging 20.1 ppg. :osu:

This kid has the potential to be the best HS basketball player since Lebron, he can already score from all over a legit 3 point threat or can post up, if he works on his rebounding and D he will be a top 10 maybe top 5 kid in his whole class by NSD for cbb and yes better then sully

In order to be the best HS player since LeQuit he would have to be at least the best prospect in his class and probably the best in the last 5 years...

Unless you mean in Ohio.... Which he would still probably have to be the number 1 player in the nation seeing how high Sully was ranked.

Yeah, that was an odd statement. You could argue he might be the best NBA prospect in Ohio since LeBronze ... that might be stretching it as you say due to Sully coming in-between, but I don't know enough about Mc. Loving to really argue with that statement.

Sorry that I fell off with the updates, I could still do it game-by-game if anyone wanted to see how his season finished out stat wise. However, that would only tell a little bit of the story. Don't get me wrong, this kid has all of the potential in the world, but he was absolutely shut down in his last two games. St. John's ended up losing to Toledo Central Catholic in the Sectional Finals. Loving only had four points and 2(!) rebounds in 30 minutes of play, and was absolutely DOMINATED by Keith Towbridge, another sophomore. When Towbridge was sitting, Loving was guarded by a 6'4" small forward and still couldn't do anything in the post (SJJ was outscored 40-8). In the second half, Central wouldn't even bring a double team because Marc would continually force bad shot after bad shot. This game was just the culmination of the end of his season. Don't get me wrong, this kid will certainly develop, but he is light years off from having any inside game.

Quick edit: He certainly has a work ethic as witnessed by his year round basketball schedule, but he needs to look hungier on the court. Many times towards the end of the season, he would look complacent to let his teammates do the dirty work if he still was able to shoot the ball. He is a quiet kid by nature, but really needs to show more of a fire when playing on such a high level.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The All-Ohio Super Sixteen Showcase had some strong Ohio flavor as practically all of the top programs from the Buckeye State participated, as well as top teams from Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia and even New York. This event continues to be a main stop on the spring calendar.

Standout players

Rob Taylor of Buckeye PrepMarc Loving has already decided to play for Ohio State in college.

Marc Loving (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's)
2013, PF/SF, 6-8, 200 pounds | Team: All Ohio Red
College: Ohio State

Loving is very skilled for his age and size. He is a very good shooter with his feet set with range to 22 feet, can put the ball on the floor some against post players and create scoring opportunities for himself. His offensive game is totally face-up. He has very long arms and is a decent rebounder, though he could use more girth. Loving has a diversified offensive game and can really score when he is totally plugged in. He may be the best prospect in the Buckeye State's strong 2013 class.

Marc Loving, 6-8, SF, All Ohio Red 16′s, 2013

There may not be another player standing 6’8 or bigger in the Class of 2013 that can do the things on the perimeter that this Ohio State recruit can. Once a skinny kid a la a young Kevin Martin, Loving has filled out his frame and is looking much more explosive than in the past. Marc shot the lights out of the ball and showed off an improved first step to get past smaller defenders en route to the tin. It’s going to be 2 1/2 years before the Toledo native suits up for the Buckeyes, but he has a good chance to be one of the next first round picks from the Thad Matta regime in Columbus.

Here?s a sneak preview of some prospects who will draw the attention of Matta and his assistants this month:

Marc Loving
Height, Weight: 6-8, 200
Position: Shooting Forward
School: Toledo (Ohio) St. John?s Jesuit
ESPN Ranking: 4th among SFs, 29th overall in class of 2013
Considering: Committed to Ohio State (August 2010)
Camp This Week: Nike LeBron James Skills Academy
Outlook: Loving long has been considered the best player in Ohio in his class and OSU scooped him up quickly. He still needs to smooth out a few rough edges but is a very promising wing forward who should only get better with more strength and experience. He makes plays all over the floor and is a surprising shot blocker. On offense, Loving can catch and shoot with a smooth release and also has an array of nifty moves to the basket. He should be a very fluid offensive player at the major college level but we?ll need to show more intensity on the boards and defensively to live up to his potential.
