Everett Withers (Off Analyst Texas Longhorns)

Anyone know which safeties in the NFL Withers can claim to have coached, especially at the college level? Just curious as he would be Mr. Bell's coach in C-Bus. Not sure how big of a deal that is to a recruit but you would think it would have somewhat of an impact if he had a decent resume.

He's had a number of NFL draft picks from his days as a college coach, but two DBs of note that were high draft picks were Quentin Jammer (1st Rd, pick 5, 2002) from his time at Texas (1998-2000, so he likely had a hand in recruiting him and possibly developing him early on), and Sam Madison (2nd Rd, pick 44, 1997) when he coached at Louisville (1995-1997).

As far as NFL goes, I'll let someone else do that research.

Winfield, Brian Williams, Chavous and Sharper was a good foursome, only together in 2005 when they were 2nd in INTs. Other than that...let's just say I'm not a Brian Russell fan.

Withers had a pretty steady quartet in Minnesota given he was there for six years:
CB1: Eric Kelly (2001-2), Denard Walker (2003), Antoine Winfield (2004-2006)
CB2: Kenny Wright (2001), Brian Williams (2002-2005), Fred Smoot (2006)
FS: Orlando Thomas (2001), Ronnie Bradford (2002) , Brian Russell (2003-2004), Darren Sharper (2005-6)
SS: Robert Griffith (2001), Corey Chavous (2002-2005), Dwight Smith (2006)

Everett Withers, Ohio State
Buzz: Ohio State's 2013 class held the top spot in the national team rankings briefly on National Signing Day after five-star Rossville (Ga.) Ridgeland safety Vonn Bell announced he was signing with the Buckeyes. Withers was responsible for outdueling Alabama and Tennessee to get Bell to Columbus. That was far from his only impressive pick-up in the Southeast, however. Withers bested Florida and Tennessee for Rivals250 linebacker Trey Johnson and flipped four-star safety Jayme Thompson from West Virginia.

For being a Co-DC it's funny how little we hear out of this guy. I still can't figure out the relationship with our whole defensive staff. Maybe it's me but it just seems fragmented at times. Of course, I hope that I am way off base. From what I know of him (which honestly isn't much) I like the guy, we just don't hear about him much which is kind of odd.

Reminds me of Darrell Hazell. Assistant HC and WR coach, but we rarely heard from him. Look at him now. :oh:

I guess I do not understand when he says that there are too many plays in a game for his defensive backs to play press coverage because he wants to keep his best players on the field at all times. I mean could not they play press coverage at least some of the time preferably the majority of the time. It is just a very confusing statement IMO
