Growing up I thought that Gameday was always at the best matchup/game of the week. This is def. not the game of the week nor the best matchup of the week. ESPN is there for the money it's obvious, and it's a shame.

Didn't they go to an Ivy League game a few years ago? Again they go where they can to do a good story/or for a big match up, justvaries as to what is going on that week. Week 1 is a chance for them to talk about the VT shooting and go on.

Yes, but if people didn't gripe about ESPN in some way, then they'd have nothing else to do. Chewing on ESPN is a hobby for many.

And I believe another former VT player, DeAngelo Hall, made headlines last year with some vicious pit bulls he owns/owned, though nothing has ever been made of a connection between Hall and Vick.

You are right. They could do stories about vick/hall....even do a little story about the problems with WVU.

The kiss of death for all teams listed. Thank goodness no one picked us. Slightly surprised no one picked tsun though.

Also, Holtz is really proving to be a stupendous jackass with his Notre Dome bias- and picking Iowa to win the Big Ten? they'd be lucky to crack the top four best teams in the conference and with road games at Wisconsin and at Penn State (and at Purdue) it is highly unlucky they will come away with less than two losses. The whole " they don't play Ohio State or Michigan so they're my darkhorse pick to win the Big Ten" thing never works out.

If you thought the Big Ten Winner pick was wild Holtz also goes against history and reason with his BCS championship pick. Oklahoma over USC? Not going to happen.

Although, and I obviously didn't hear his (Herbie) rationale, I think the PSU pick is absurd. Oh, and if Booty, Henne (seriously?), or Brennan win the Heisman, I'll be suspicious of witch-doctoring.
