ESPN announces new college football anthem for 2022 season

In what will be a familiar sound in a matter of weeks, ESPN on Friday announced its new college football anthem for the 2022 season.

Yungblud, a British singer, musician, songwriter and actor, will provide the musical backdrop for the 2022-23 college football season. The new single from the artist – ‘The Emperor’ – will serve as the anthem for ESPN’s college football coverage, which kicks off on Aug. 27, ahead of Yungblud’s forthcoming self-titled album release on September 2 (Locomotion/Geffen Records).

“It’s a massive honor to have my song ‘The Emperor’ chosen as the anthem for ESPN’s college football season. I wrote this song when I was 17; it was just an outburst of unfiltered energy that I knew would have its moment one day,” Yungblud said in a news release from ESPN.

So, how many subscribers will it cost ESPN when the deal is finalized? I know a lot of people who only keep their cable/streaming service so they have ESPN. Once the B1G is off their broadcast lineup, I can see a lot of those people dropping it like a hot rock.

IDK how many it will lose since so many also use ESPN for NFL, MLB and NBA. And OU and Tejas joining SEC will sooth that a little... But they're going to lose a chunk of subscribers
ESPN has become the go to for sports coverage unfortunately, and made themselves almost a monopoly. If you go to bars or gyms throughout the country, ESPN is almost always on the tube

There are increasingly diminishing returns with ESPN. When I signed up with FuboTV last year the base subscription included ESPN, ESPM2, ESPNNews, ESPNU, and the SEC and ACC networks. Now it’s ESPN 1 & 2 with no subordinate networks — they’re now all in a premium sports tier, which I will not subscribe to without Big Ten content.

ESPN is being marginalized by the hour, and this is evident if you’ve listened to Disney quarterly earnings conference calls for the last two or three years. People are dropping ESPN like it will give you cancer and AIDS in your dick since 2019.
