ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Yeah, that was a total shit-show. ESPN did not do their due diligence, and Paragon should not have allowed that game to be scheduled.

Roy Johnson ran COF Academy (Christians of Faith) previously, and simply changed the name of the business after 2018 to try and escape creditors for unpaid lodging and transportation bills. Jay Richardson was involved in COF Academy previously as their "Athletic Director." I'm not sure if he's involved in Bishop Sycamore.

The Ohio AG and DoE need to shut this guy down, because this shit has gone on for too long.

EDIT: Sporting News did do some research on the roster and found three kids with HUDL pages that have already graduated (or should have graduated) other high schools around the country.

And what was maybe more notable than that blowout was the degree to which ESPN’s announcers (Anish Shroff and Tom Luginbill) went in on Bishop Sycamore, including disputing the school’s claims about having Division I recruits, criticizing the game that they were showing, and questioning how it wound up on their airwaves.

One could ask just what the hell ESPN is doing lining up "national" high school games. The need for content is ever-present on a 24/7 network dedicated to sports, and exploiting kids, be it little league world series or high school football and basketball, seems to find both willing victims and eager customers.

I spoke with Paragon president Rashid Ghazi last night. Ghazi said that they would have cancelled the game had they had known that the same kids played earlier in the weekend, and they had held out hope that Bishop Sycamore perhaps fielded two teams with a split squad approach to the tw0 contests.
Which one is it, exactly?

And which non-img football team has two teams?

I can see how this happens - Maybe there was a Bishop Sycamore, I mean there was a Bishop Alter right here in Cincinnati and then there's Cardinal Fang. I remember listening to a U Cincinnati basketball game early in Oscar Robertson's first season, the announcer stating that he had played his high school ball at Crispus Attucks and I wondered why I'd never heard of a Catholic high school or college with that name.

This story keeps getting crazier & crazier.

https://www.complex.com/sports/bishop-sycamore-high-school-player-interview/part-2

...

But why did you go there? What appealed to you about that school?
At first they had like brochures and a plan. N*gga, they sent me books with like shit on how the school was supposed to look. Blueprints and everything. They told us we was gonna be on Netflix, they recruited us telling us we were gonna be on a show. They told us we’re gonna be the IMG of the midwest. They lied to me and my mama.

...

What’s the craziest thing that happened while you were there?
There’s shit I could say, but I don’t really want to. N*gga, for the last month and a half, we had about 35 players. We moved into these new houses. For that month and a half, we was all sleeping on the floor. We had to go rob Meijers, Krogers, Walmart because that’s the only way we can eat.

That’s crazy
It’s crazy but I can think of shit that’s crazier than that. Sleeping on the floor and doing all that shit, that don’t get to me. N*ggas almost got stabbed in there. We had players from every borough of New York. Then we had players from inner city Columbus. That’s where I’m from. Everything didn’t mix especially with no supervision.

You put all those personalities together and it could boil up.
Yea and plus at the end of the day, these n*ggas not high schoolers. They’re grown men and they from New York [laughs].
