ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

As one who remembers less than fondly "The Good Ol'Days" of one college football game a week, teams not allowed to appear more than twice in a season, I hope ESPN continues.
As one who also remembers the days of listening to games on the radio and being happy we could at least listen, I hope ESPiN dies a horrible death. Someone else will step in and televise the games. We will not revert to 1968 (what a glorious year). And hopefully that someone will focus on sports, not their political/social agenda.

I really don’t care whether ESPN continues to be a major force or not. I also don’t care whether the product that follows it is better or worse, but I do recognize that their production value today is relatively good.

That's really what it all boils down to, isn't it? When they were focusing only on sports, and determined to provide the best coverage they could, ESPN was pretty awesome (and I would guess - very profitable) Then, somewhere along the line, they decided they wanted to be in the magazine business and started down that road. That lead into their "investigative reporting" phase and all the unsubstantiated hit pieces they published. They regularly broke stories on their TV network using their own magazine as the source. That started alienating entire fan bases, as we Buckeye fans know all too well.......

Throw in overpaying for MNF & NBA rights as well as their misguided exploration into politics and the election, along with any number of societal topics and you get where we are today.

ESPN has called itself the mothership for years. But now that ship is taking on water and I don't think there aren't enough buckets to stop it......

I'm still trying to figure out how Spelling Bees and Poker are more worthy sports than, say, International Rules Football.
I had to live overseas to see that for the first time. And my god what a glorious thing it was.
You know in those crazy overseas places you can watch every kind of sport imaginable? Here we're lucky to mix some Hockey into the Big 3. I don't even care for 2 of the Big 3.
And then spend 18 hours out of 24 generating drama about the Big 3.
ESPN is a male version of Soap Operas. That's it.
