Jesus Christ. I knew Ed Cunningham was a buffoon, but wow. Year-to-year, Sparty, who has had two good years, is the best bet to win a championship. And because they have a "dynamic offense." Not Urban Meyer...who has won everywhere he's gone. Not Ohio State, who for well over a decade has competed on the national stage. Michigan State...because they've had two good years...the second of which saw them lose their two biggest games in convincing fashion.Apologies for the source from TSUN, but
ESPN analyst Ed Cunningham says Michigan State was the best team this year.
"If you take three quarters out of that season – and those are big quarters, right? – fourth quarter against Oregon, two quarters, the second half against Ohio State, I thought through and through, offensively they're so much more dynamic than people think they are. They run the spread 30-40% of the time, which is something you'd never think of at Michigan State. I think they've grown.
"To me, that's a program, if every year you had to pick a team that could win a championship, I'd bet on them. But for me, saw them twice so I got to study them a bunch, other than those three quarters, the best team I saw."
(emphasis mine)
It astounds me that people like this are paid, and paid handsomely, to talk about college football.
