i'm sure there's an inside story to the rail thing I'm missing.
but Miss St. actually has this banner hanging at Davis Wade Stadium:
that LSU team in '99 finished 3-8. Got our asses whipped by Kentucky and Houston, and is holds the longest losing streak in school history.
they still list that win as one of the top 10 biggest wins ever in that stadium.

Just like Ole Miss having a '03 SEC West Co-Champs banner (even though they didn't go to SEC CG).

sounds like the Miss. St. fan I work with. swears this is a new beginning and Miss St is going to catch LSU.
he didn't like it much when I reminded him that if we lost to MSU every year I'd be in my 70's before they evened the series.

And in the category of people that deserve each other.....I think it's hilarious that it took a rant about Goddell for ESPiN to suspend that hack Bill Simmons and the suspension didn't result from his constant fawning over stupid NBA topics and a general disregard for anything non-Boston sports related.

One other thing that I noticed about The Rail - it talks about the victory being "one of the greatest Penn State upsets of all time." Well, Penn State entered the game 5-0 and #16 in the country, and Ohio State was 3-1 (lost to Texas) and #6 in the country. Penn State finished the season at 11-1 (#3 in both polls), and Ohio State at 10-2 (#4 in both polls). Some upset.
Anyway, the great upset was vacated, thanks to Joe the Enabler. "Tear down this Rail!"

I don't think it was Simmons's message as much as the delivery. ESPN will give their op-ed guys latitude to write/speak a take down, but BS essentially went on a profanity-laced tirade where he called Goodell a liar without providing any proof, then concluded his rant by acknowledging he knew that what he was saying would get him suspended and then dared ESPN to do it.
The funny part is that BS's three week suspension is longer than Ray Rice's original two week suspension.

IMBSO, Simmons' problem is that he wants to be one of the cool kids . . . and no matter how successful he is (and I give him credit for working his ass off and writing his way to the top: He CAN write well, when he wants to and isn't over committed) he just isn't and never will be. So he tries too hard to establish some weird sort of street cred a lot of the time. and it distracts from his main points.

Let him write...he should just never be on TV ever for any reason. His NBA draft coverage was so bad I was actually HOPING Jon Gruden and Me Diaper Jr. would show up.

I about fell out of my chair when I saw this (although to be fair I was already sitting on the edge). The B1G Blog's weekly conference power rankings has PSU.......wait for it......#3 in the conference! LOLOL. OSU #4 and Wisconsin #5. PSU is at best #5, and I'll need to see more to be convinced they even deserve that. I mean, does ESPN even see who they have played or watched the actual games themselves? Like how if UCF started their backup QB the entire game they win by 2 or 3 scores? Or how if I was the QB at Rutgers they win by 2 or 3 scores?

Edit: On a side note, I kind of hope they are undefeated when we play them. If they are I see the spread being something like OSU -7. And I'm going all in on that MF.
