ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

so there is absolutely nothing on tv....I just made the mistake of watching the Sports Reporters.

They are talking about how college football is broke. John Saunders went down a list of teams with issues and how USC had to give back it's national title and how OSU lost a national title winning coach in Jim Tressel and how they may have to give back their national title.

Yes, a talking head on ESPN said OSU may have to give back it's national title. Does John even know what is going on? This is the first time I have watched a show on ESPN in a few weeks and this is what I hear.

Should have kept your streak going longer...

I was watching The Sports Reporters to see how they discussed the Miami scandal.

MIke Lupica - "You know when people are gonna believe that the NCAA really wants to police itself? When the President of Ohio State gets fired for this, okay. I think Donna Shalala's a good person, it's impossible for me to believe that she's like Claude Rains in Casablanca, going 'I'm shocked to discover that gambling is going on.' This bedbug, Shapiro, is hanging around their program, has access to everybody and everything at the University of Miami, and did they think the kids were just hanging around with him cause he's a good guy? No. So, ... the coaches, the general managers, that phony Paul Dee (who was gonna smartmouth USC when they got into trouble), this happened on his watch, too. So until athletic directors, college presidents lose their jobs, until we stop punishing the kids for doing what kids do , which is looking for something to go on top of room and board, nothing is gonna change. But this sport is killing itself."

After it was mentioned that Shapiro led Miami out of the tunnel twice:

Lupica - "I'm surprised he didn't get to dot the 'i' at Ohio State."

John Saunders, summarizing the list of recent offenders, mentioned USC, Oregon and Auburn, then said:

"Ohio State loses their head coach, Jim Tressel, a guy who won a national championship - they may have to give that back".
------------------------------------------------------------------------
End of actual quotes form the show.

So Gordon Gee deserves to lose his job because a few guys got some free tattoos, but Donna Shalala is a 'good person' who's not like Claude Rains in Casablanca despite Shapiro having access to everybody and everything at Miami.

Because Shapiro's a slimeball, it would be appropriate for tOSU to have him dot the 'i'.

And despite no LOIC or 'failure to monitor' at tOSU, the Buckeyes may have to give back a national championship from the 2002 season.

Got it, ESPN. Anybody who thinks that your show is about 'sports reporting', and that your talking heads have any degree of objectivity is simply kidding themselves.

That highlighted quote cracks me up... its just like to society nowa days. Everyone gets a trophy and there is no score because we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I know he was probably talking about older players harming the current ones because they fucked up... but you know what. Life's not fair, I agree the admins need to be fired but still its not going to stop kids from thinking they are entitled to their share, regardless of the consequences. In the end its not fair but I don't have a problem with it.

"Oh, I know. I think I'll turn on ESPN so I can work myself into a lather of righteous indignation."

You've exposed me. Now I can skip this week's psychoanalysis.
