ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

I just saw the same thing. It ended very abruptly and went right to a LLWS highlight. Very strange.

Yesterday there was a commentator that stated Ohio State was a "one trick pony", referring to Braxton Miller. I believe it was their college preview show. Really?
Another incredibly ridiculous statement.

apparently the corporate memo went out to have all of their commentators troll Ohio State and rile up their fans.

Counter it by not watching them unless the unfortunate reality is there is a game telecast on.

Or do what I do. go to firstrowsports and see if the game is streamed on there if you can or want too. I have an HDMI port on my laptop, so I can connect it to the TV very easily and usually the picture quality isn't too horrifically bad.

Yes, that was Desmond the Douche. He also thinks Scum is going to win the BIG championship. If OSU is a one-trick-pony, that's one more trick than scum's got.

I've been wondering this for quite some time. Who cares? Don't watch if you don't like it or get some thicker skin.

As a buckeye fan I can agree with this statement. I think most articles regarding the Buckeyes elicit nothing more than a roll of the eyes or a mild chuckle. As a college football fan ignoring the worldwide leader becomes just a little more difficult. For those of you that refuse to watch secpn unless the Buckeyes are playing allow me to offer my take on what I saw from the high school special. I apologize in advance if it’s long and terribly written.

Secpn actually aired a commercial featuring Tom Lugenbill, The National Director of Recruiting, saying that “any top recruit who commits to a SEC school this weekend will have their highlights featured every hour and during half time of the games being played over the weekend plus a thousand dollars” I just about lost my mind. I mean this had to be an NCAA violation of some kind right? Doesn't this give the SEC an unfair advantage?

Okay, relax they didn't actually offer kids a thousand bucks. As far as the other part, they really might as well have. Look I expect secpn to push their agenda when it comes to their teams participating in championships. IMO however they were so over the top this weekend I don’t know how it couldn't be some kind of NCAA violation. Every kid they mentioned that was committed to a non-SEC school had a long way to go until signing day, where as a kid committed to a SEC school was a “big pick up” and a “great fit”. There was very little question on what they were selling, and to whom they were selling it. They held nothing back, even including a cartoonish commercial for the young’uns.

.

My concern is that UK, UT, Ole Miss, and Miss State will be teams ranked in the top 25 if for no other reason than they are in the SEC and secpn says they got good recruits based on secpn. The BIG network needs to actually start programming better than the USA channel. The BIG and our network, FOX, the PAC had better come up with a damn good plan that provides a voice as powerful in creating influence as secpn and their conference alignments’ or it’s going to be pretty heated come playoff time.

Ease your mind.

ESPN is trying to do a nice little tribute to the 100th Rose Bowl, with brief blurbs highlighting certain games. Last night they mentioned the 1993 Rose Bowl, and included this narration from Chris Fowler: "Washington quarterback Mark Brunell put on a show with 5 touchdown passes" and a few seconds later: "Michigan prevailed 38-31".

How tough is it for somebody to check the facts and see that Brunell only threw 2 TD passes that day? And shouldn't Fowler, even if he's only reading notes handed to him, realize that a team with a guy throwing 5 TDs probably scored more than 31 points, and question it? The 31 points was from 2 passing TDs, 2 rushing TDs, and a field goal.

They really make it difficult to believe anything that they say when they can't get something like that correct.

We all know it wasn't 5 TDs. It was 4. And it wasn't Washington, it was Polk High. And it was Mark Brunell, it was Al Bundy
