Emory Jones (QB Florida, transfer to Arizona St., transfer to Cincinnati)

I would love for Jones to play for the good guys, but we will be fine either way. As long as UM is our head coach, our receivers continue to develop, the offensive line stays consistent, and our running backs are elite, all we need is a QB who can throw more consistently than JT and we will have an elite offense that enables us to compete for championships. I’m fairly confident 1-2 people out of Haskins, Martell, Burrows, Baldwin, plus anyone they bring in over the next two cycles can do that.

Don’t get me wrong, EJ looks like he has Deshaun Watson/ program changer type potential, but we don’t need a program transformation. With all of our offensive follies that led to losses over the past 3 years, other than the Clemson game, we were a couple of plays from winning those contest. For all the griping we do as a fan base over our offense (specifically the passing attack), we have been the 1st ranked offensive in the B10 and top 15 nationally for the entirety of UM’s career here (yes mainly behind an elite rushing attack, but still). Main point is while we could definitely kick it up a gear as it concerns QB play here, it isn’t such a jump that would make losing EJ a monumental blow. We’ll be more than fine.

We just need someone to accurately hit an open receiver past 15-20 yards with regularity to be in title contention every year. With all that said, I hope he sticks lol. Would be sweet if he did. You can never have too many offensive weapons.

He would be / would have been a nice bridge... really nice bridge. Can't blame him for heading to UF. That OL was worse than tsun... and wow, that's saying a lot considering they went through QB1, QB2, QB3 and back to QB2 in a single season.

As much of a talent as he is, and being as much a hopeless optimist that I am, Ohio State's prospects for success does not rest on one recruit.

Usually not but sometimes that may be the case. Do they win the 2014 NC without Elliot? Do they win additional championships with Watson? One player does not make a team or program but one player can be the difference. Whether or not Jones is one of those players is anything but a sure thing though.

I haven’t expected him to be a part of this class for a while now. Sucks, but not unexpected. We’re in pretty good shape here for the next few years, so while it sucks to lose out on a talent like Jones, it’s not overly impactful in the near, or even possibly long term.

Gleitman from Bucknuts says that OSU basically pulled his offer once Matt Baldwin committed.
Why? What good possibly comes from that? It's a rather bold claim for a pretty inexplicable move.

They have baldwin. They aren't getting someone better. What do they get from breaking up with Emory a few hours before he breaks up with them for good after having plenty of side action?
