I think that if he's serious about tOSU and he's looking at a summer decision, it would make a LOT of sense to slow play the rest of the non-committed QBs that we're chasing in the '17 class. No need for taking two this year if there's this kind of talent in '18 with this kind of interest.
Obviously, it's a long way to signing day...
Its interesting that many dual threat QBs' highlight tapes show few intermediate throws. I remember watching the same on Torrance Gibson in HS, everything was a deep bomb. I'm not sure if the HS coaches designed it that way to back the DBs up and give the QB running room if need be or what. But its interesting when you watch a number of HS DT QBs, few show on film if they can make every throw, but they do show the deep ballFirst time I really got to watch his film in detail and man was I impressed. Sets his feet extremely well in the pocket, steps into his throws and has a very smooth and over the top delivery. Equally impressive is how well he throws the ball on the run and yet does not rely on it, squares his shoulders pretty consistently to the target before delivery. Puts the ball in the right spot for only his receiver to catch it. Athletic enough to extend plays and I think to run the read option...pretty cognizant, decisive and quick in space.
I really like how well he throws the deep ball and corner routes, but I would have liked to see more intermediate throws across the middle to assess his arm strength. Seems like he has plenty of arm strength and accuracy, but those throws are the ones that really show it. The deep out route throws on the bootlegs are very impressive, albeit to the same side of the field.
Overall, I think Emory could be big time here. He can move the ball with his arm and his feet, looks composed out there, and I really his ball placement.
Add Terrelle Pryor to that list. Every throw on his tape was also a deep bomb. I remember thinking the same thing, "where are the intermediate throws?"Its interesting that many dual threat QBs' highlight tapes show few intermediate throws. Valid point.May be they only showcase the deep throws since that usually mean TDs, which is what they think a "highlight" film should be to impress suitors. No different than when you see OSU game highlights in YouTube. Just my opinion.
