Emory Jones (QB Florida, transfer to Arizona St., transfer to Cincinnati)

Still looking around, but saying all the right things. Visiting 4/13.
The primary argument being made by other schools as they pitch Jones? Ohio State’s quarterback depth. Jones, however, said that the Buckeyes and new quarterback coach Ryan Day believe that is an advantage for his long-term development.

“When I talk to Coach Day,” Jones said, “he’s like, the great quarterbacks they stay in a system and develop. That’s how I’m thinking of it. I need to stay in a system and develop and I feel that Coach Day is a great quarterback coach to do that for the next however (many years). I want to get on the field, but I want to get developed. I don’t want to walk in, first day, and have to play.”

In the meantime, Jones is working on developing the Buckeyes’ recruiting class, and that’s why it’s hard to imagine that he’s looking too seriously at other schools.

“I feel like I’m the leader of the class,” he said. “I’m trying to bring in the best of the best dudes.”

110% Buckeye would mean that zero schools have a chance at flipping him. At least in my book, that's what that means.

Youre thinking of 100% committed. This always used to confuse me too.

Officially:

100% committed to [school name] : Paint the endzones. He's not flipping.

110% committed = 90% committed : 10% chance of flipping

120% committed = 80% committed : 20% chance of flipping.

And so on. Anything below 80 or above 120 and they are officially a 'soft' verbal.

I don't know anything about this kid but isn't this the same path Shaun Wade kinda followed for 2 years before signing with Ohio State?

I can see the similarities, but Emory's "love showing" for OSU is a little stronger. Emory will also end up at OSU. I feel like reporters for other schools are baiting him with questions, and writing misleading headlines. He's dipping his toe in the process, as he has every right to do, which amounts to taking some unofficial visits to schools close in distance to him. He still says he's "110%" a Buckeye, and that's just to "refute" the writers headline innuendos.. as he's pretty close to a lock IMO. He can recognize the special players being put together, and takes pride in being a leader in that. Wade was never much into that aspect.

I believe Jones "re-tweet" the 110% qoute after Garcia tweeted that three schools have a chance to flip him. I don't see a problem with that. I wish he does not visit other schools, but that is selfish of me...and he is not the first nor will he be the last to to such thing.

It looks like you're right. I'm not too smart with the twitters.

I feel like this post with direct quotes from Emory is getting lost in this thread.

Emory might be the best pure passing QB incoming as a frosh since Bobby Hoying... and he has skills with his feet to boot that Bobby never had. Emory's got everything you're looking for talent-wise in a QB at the HS level. Plus he'll be a part of the first real open competition at QB at OSU in years, and he'll be playing with nothing to lose.

Bottom line: If he's coming in with that talent and that attitude, the only limit for him is being the first overall pick in the NFL draft
