Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim

I feel for anybody that say they bought Fallout/Elder Scrolls for a console. There are a few people that just have very old PC's that can't handle it and they don't wish to upgrade, I can't argue with those people. I've heard some misconceptions and bad information spread around as to why people have bought the games for their console...

My one buddy started a game to try it out on his roommate's PS3 and decided to buy the game for PS3 as well because he didn't want to start over and makeup 3 hours of game play. I couldn't help but point out "You do know how long this game is, don't you?" A co-worker bought it for X-Box because he said his console had been collecting dust and he thought this would be a good game to dust it off for. Another coworker said he doesn't like to mod games, but I know for a fact that he plays Minecraft on PC and it's completely modded up, so I'm not buying that excuse.

Fallout/Elder Scrolls games are just not built for consoles. Yes, you can play them on console, but you're doing yourself a disservice. Theres a whole construction toolkit out there, and thousands of people that continue to add content, updates, custom bug fixes, HD textures, quests, NPCs, etc. Hell, it's been 6 years or so since Oblivion and it still has frequent mod additions every day. While not all of these mods are worth the time to download, some can make you see the game in a whole new light and give you a reason to play it through again.

+EleventyBrazillion.

I'm now running a few sweet mods on Skyrim. The Dragon Bone Weapon Pack is sweet. I have two Dragon Bone swords, one dual enchanted with Fire damage and soul capture, the other with frost damage and health leeching.

Dual wielding+Elemental Fury Shout = Dealing some damage. I don't even bother with Dragonrend shouts anymore. Dragons don't last long once I have themn grounded with my dual enchanted Dragon Bone Bow (Fire and soul capture).

I need to add the Dovahkiin's Hideout.

My next goal is to create a quest mod. Maybe a faction, like a Ranger faction or new town with a chance to become the Jarl.

You're ambitious, but I would love to play it if you're able to create the mod. When I made my Fallout 3 house mod I spent a good amount of time shaping the landscape to accomodate the building, adding walls, getting things to line up properly, and coding turrets and things. It got to be a headache, but it felt worth it when I was done. I wanted to expand on it and add a quest with NPCs, dialog, etc...but I found learning the dialog trees to be a bit cumbersome and ultimately I never finished it :( Maybe one day I'll go back and complete it, I dunno. Once you learn the basics and do a few quests I've heard it goes much smoother if you decide to add more.

Just found out the hard way that it's not a good idea to sell the Thieves Guild Armor. :smash:

I save every unique I pick up in this game. That armor had none of the hallmarks of being unique. It's name didn't indicate uniqueness and neither did the context in which it was given. There were even two additional pieces sitting around in the Cistern. I have a drum, a lute, a flute, two spheres and three amulets that I have no use for that the game won't even let me store in a barrel, let alone sell. Meanwhile, a useless set of armor that breaks a major questline it let me sell and allowed it to disappear from the world entirely.

Yeah, I did that with the coral dragon claw. I thought I used it already. Turns out that I didn't. It looks like no Helm of Winterhold for me.

See, I've kept all the dragon claws I've come across because they at least seemed like they might be unique.

I gave up on it late last night so I'll have to back up and check, but I may not have to backtrack as far as I thought. It took me a little while longer to sell a couple of the hoods, so I might not be in too bad of shape. I didn't start the Thieves Guild until this weekend, so at worst I just lose all of that time.

Actually, I think I may have sold some Thieves Guild armor. Either that or it's in a chest in one of my houses. Do you need it to bring the Thieves Guild back to prosperity? If so, then I'm screwed.

At the very least you need one piece to trade in to her for an "upgrade". The way it's set up, if you don't have something to trade in you lose all other dialogue options with her, so she can no longer be used as a fence. Plus, I've read that it's necessary to be able to speak with her for the very last objective in the questline. Fortunately for me I noticed right away that I had lost her as fence rather than playing all the way thru to the near-end.

If you have sold off everything and can't retrieve it, try looking for pieces of Guild Armor lying around in the Cistern area. From what I've read today, part of the 1.4 patch (I think it goes by 1.04 on PS3) was that a few pieces were placed by hand around some of the beds and in the training room so people who were stuck would have a chance to fix it. Unfortunately for me, I started all of this after installing the patch, so I picked those pieces up and sold them too. The fact that they were just lying around there was part of what led me to believe that these weren't unique items in the first place.

I just finished the main questline for the thieves guild over the weekend. I finished the college of Winterhold questline first, so the Thieves Guild was a nice run in how much more there is to do than the mage's guild. You get some nice rewards for completing the quests, though I still have more of the side quests to do. My pickpocketing is terrible so all those objectives are difficult. I traded in the Armor when prompted and it increased my carrying capacity by 35 points, a nice boost. Everything else I got rid of or sold.

Actually, I'm good. I found the rest of the armor. I already did the trade-in stuff a while ago, so it looks like I have nothing to worry about. The latest patch lets my mannequins work, so now I'm going around my houses and putting my unique attire on them.

Do the patches for 360 automatically get downloaded? Or is that something you have to find and download manually (if it is possible at all)?

It'll automatically prompt you when you start the game. I don't think you HAVE to download them though. There was an update about a week or two ago.

Is there any reason not to join all the factions (Thieves Guild, Companions, Dark Brotherhood, Winterhold)?

Are there other factions to join other than the ones I named (other than the Imperial/Stormcloack, which is one or the other I assume).
