Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim

I beat Alduin (way too easily). Now what? Finish all storylines I suppose?

If you haven't done them already I suggest hitting up the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Companions, and Winterhold College. Complete those quest arcs, then search out the Daedric princes and complete their quests. The main quest line only encompasses 3-5 hours I guesstimate, I usually suggest doing it last when it comes to Elder Scrolls games. The sidequests are the meat and potatoes really, while the main quest is just the icing on the cake. Main course comes before dessert!

I am done with the Companions and Winterhold college (both very good arcs), started Dark Brotherhood and Thieves, I'm just not that good at sneaking at the moment...I like to just kill people head to head, so these will take some time. Got smithing and enchanting to 100, working on alchemy and finding awesome smithing gear so I can make some bad ass daedric armor. I really did like the main story. I'm level 57 right now.

The Winterhold College was actually a bit of a disappointment, it didn't hold up against the Mages Guild quest line from Oblivion. Companions was as good or better than the Fighter's guild from the previous game though. I think you'll enjoy the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood once your Sneaking gets better. I especially liked getting those crazy 15x and 30x backstab bonuses with daggers when taking out targets...although the cutscene animation when you get one is a little gruesome  Alchemy was a pain in the ass to level for me, I had to enlist the help of a trainer to keep from going crazy, best of luck.

I'm with Buckeye86. I don't use any glitches in the game, it just takes away from the experience for me. The only thing that I do that could be considered cheating is that I ramp up my carryweight to 3000 using the console. It doesn't help me win any fights or really make me any more coin than I would normally, it just saves time. If I didn't increase my carryweight I would still clear out entire dungeons and take every valuable I find, I would just have to do it in several trips. I'm a hoarder like that and I've got to milk every septim I can. I don't find that several trips back and forth from a dungeon adds to my gameplay experience, hence why I bump it up to 3000. I suppose I could bypass the console completely and just load it all onto my companion, but this just takes one step out of the process.

GTFOWTS. Increasing your capcity artificially is the same as using a glitch to get free houses. Either you play it honest or you don't. You can justify it in your own way, but don't tell me you don't cheat, then tell me you cheat.

I ran into my first glitch last night that apparently has no solution. I looted the guy that was executed when you first walk into Solitude immediately and got the pendant off of him.

Later, apparently, you are supposed to go get the pendant off of him from the grave (creepy) but I already had it. This broke the system and I failed to complete the quest, which apparently will be on my "to do list" for the rest of the game now.

Pretty obnoxious/disappointing.

You can't give the pendant back to him, then start the quest and take it back?

good thought, thankfully I have a save from before I talk to the lady that sends you on the quest... that may work and I will try it, but it might not work due to not being able to drop "quest items"... and I'm not really sure where the body is at

I checked the most obvious place to find the body (Solitude catacombs) with no luck, I am assuming it doesn't show up until after the quest is started... I also assume that you couldn't drop the pendant anyways

oh well, the quest really isn't that important so it's not a big deal, the only reason I was doing it was to "help 5 people" to become Thane, turns out if you give the daughter some money after it fails to complete the quest it counts as helping someone for whatever reason, so mission accomplished I suppose

having an item permanently on the quest list is going to be the most annoying thing moving forward, but I suppose I can live with it

I've run into several of those.

Don't pick up extra attunement spheres during the main quest - though they are harmless since they're weightless.

Don't do radiant quests for Dawnstar, unless you want a whole list full of "Collect Bounty from Skald" that you cant clear from your misc. objectives.

Don't do anything with the Bards' College unless you have an extra 10 carry weight that you can't find a use for and want to become a permanent one-man band.

Oh, and I have the Amulet of Talos that you mentioned. I was carrying two others at the time though, so I actually have three of them that I can't drop. :roll2:

Just to appease you I will henceforth give all my burdens to Lydia :tongue2: I suppose cheating is cheating, but I find artificially using unintended game mechanics to procure in-game furniture is more grevious than making myself a packmule as oppose to my companion to save time.

Wait, so the Winterhold quest is playable for non-mages? I'm a kick-ass Nord. The only spells I use are Clairvoyance and Healing. I can do the Winterhold stuff without doing magic?

Yup. You will need one destruction spell to get in. Other than that you won't need to use too many spells if you don't want to.
