Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim

Once you initially sort and establish some containers in a house, it's easy to get into a routine for when you come to town to drop or sell loot. Here's how I sort:
  • food
  • raw materials
  • alchemy ingredients
  • potions
  • books
  • armor
  • weapons
  • jewelry
  • notes & keys
  • soul gems and other rare miscellany

I generally put my enchanted crafting gear in the same containers as the corresponding raw materials so I don't have to dig for them among the other apparel containers. I also don't hoard unenchanted weapons or armor like I did in past TES games. I only keep unique items and stuff I can't make myself, and sell the rest.

SO... I would like to organize like that at some point, but I just bought the house and threw all my shit into one trunk... because it was the only thing available.

Is there any limit to how much stuff you can put in storage places in your house? Because I just unloaded a lot and plan to bring back more now that I can actually carry things.

No limit on how much you can put in any container, except bookshelves.

Even the tiny end tables can hold as much as you can put in, and even items that shouldn't be able to fit individually, like warhammers.

I try to use logical containers (dressers and wardrobes for apparel, chests for weapons, barrels for raw materials, etc.) if for no other reason than it helps me remember where I put things. The only place where I deviated is the end table for books - because of the limitations and brokenness of bookshelves.

I wish you could purchase containers. It seems like something that could be sold by a general goods merchant. You'd still have to have an owned house to put it in, but it's a way to allow for more customization for console players like me. I'd love to build a proper library in one of the bigger houses that way, and be able to get rid of some of the useless non-bookshelf shelves that they give you full of useless dishes.

Blackeach was a bitch. Not because of the hotels - they were easy. The place was so disorienting, I nearly threw up from motion sickness running in circles mining or and searching for crimson nirnroot. Picked up so much loot in two trips though that I spent the next five hours crafting and selling - made a ton of gold.

That place was my favorite place so far in the game by far...cept those effing crimson nirnroots..hated that.

Just re-read that quote of mine... apparently "Falmer" gets changed to "hotels" by the auto-correct on my tablet  There certainly are no hotels in Blackreach.

I expected this game to be a lot like WoW. I've played Wow for 5 or 6 years now and the greatest and best difference for me is there isn't a leet way that you have to develop and gear your character. I'm a bow sniping/flame throwing/bash your ass with an axe character and love it.

freaking Lydia died on me (fell off a cliff into some water while stunned or something)... I assumed she would just be back at my house like when I had lost her previously but I think she is gone for good... that really bums me out

who is the next best (or just someone else) partner (shield brother or whatever) that can always be found in a reliable spot that I can be a little more careful with saves about losing?

Go back to your most recent save and you should have her back.

Anyone playing on the pc should check out SkyUI.

problem is she died in the far north end of the map and by the time I got back to my house and realized she was gone for good I didn't have a save to go back to with her still alive

lesson learned for next time

Are you just doing autosaves? It's hard to remember (see some of my previous frustrations) but I try to do some manual saves too because on PS3 you only get 3 autosave slots and they get overwritten pretty quickly.

I had an itch for battle when I played before bed last night.

I ended up walking around and exploring shops for an hour and half. I swung my sword once, during training.

Of course, if you just wanted to go from one town to the next incident-free, you would've had to fight a group of Thalmor, a bear and two dragons.
