Ed "LL" Warinner (Run Game Coordinator FAU)

Coach Warinner's son is making an unofficial visit to Oklahoma this weekend.
POWELL, Ohio -- Edward Warinner is either going to wear a Nike sweatshirt or Olentangy Liberty blue to his unofficial visit to Oklahoma on Saturday. Easy decision.

"That's not the hard part," Edward told cleveland.com. "The hardest part of this isn't what I'm going to wear, it's going to be sitting in the (Oklahoma) section, and if Ohio State does something really well, it's going to be hard for me to keep my cool.
Edward is a three-star prospect at Powell (Ohio) Olentangy Liberty who has been invited by Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops to be an unofficial visitor this weekend. So while Warinner is up in the box dialing up Ohio State's offensive plays, his son is going to be sitting somewhere in an Oklahoma section being recruited by the Sooners staff. Awkward.

OHIO STATE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR AND TIGHT ENDS COACH ED WARINNER TO EARN $650K BASE SALARY IN 2016; DEAL IS FOR ONE YEAR

Ohio State's offense didn't reach the peak of its potential until its final two games of the 2015 season when Ed Warinner coached from the press box as opposed to the sideline, but the team's offensive coordinator still earned a raise ahead of this year.

Warinner is set to earn $650,000 in base compensation during 2016, according to his latest contract, which Eleven Warriors obtained via a public records request filed May 3 and filled Friday afternoon. He will also coach tight ends this season after being the head of the offensive line the past four seasons. Warinner's new deal is for just this season and expires on April 30, 2017.

OHIO STATE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR DISCUSSES SPECULATION SURROUNDING PURDUE HEAD COACHING JOB

“That stuff comes up and the only way I find out about it is if somebody texts me or if somebody like you brings it up," Warinner said. "Otherwise, I’m just grinding. We’re trying to get this football team better, we’re trying to get this football team better for a tough road win and it’s going to be tough to do."

"I focus on that," he continued. "Those things take care of themselves. Those are all things that happen and I don’t have to get involved in any of that stuff. There are ways that will happen and you just stay out of it and take care of your job. The better you do your job the better things happen for you all around.”

No disrespect to Warriner because I feel he is a fantastic Asst. coach for our Bucks but other than pure speculation why does his name get brought up so often in relation to HC openings?? Hes older, not known as the most personable coach when it comes to recruiting and has no head coaching experience. plus his son is in HS in CBus........why is everyone so fast to name him a candidate for EVERY job out there? what am I missing?

yeah kind of the way I look at it too...As messed up as it sounds.

Also going to Purdue would be tough for him. There's not many people who can succeed there and I don't think he would be any different. I know Urban says if the recruiting base is there for the school then thats a good opportunity and being 3rd place in a crap state like Indiana leads me to believe he will fail if he goes there.

I don't see a major program offering either. Hope it works out for coach either way.

I agree.

Ed is a hell of a grizzled OL coach.
I'm not yet sold on his OC chops.
He has never been a rain maker on the recruiting front.
But he is an elite OL coach.

Purdue just got rid of an up and coming MAC coach but they would be wise to look at Row The Boat Fleck.

I love Ed, hope he stays.
But if he were to leave it would give us a chance to reshape our staff on offense. We already have a top shelf OL coach (Stud).
I'm not sold on the double barreled Ed/Beck in the booth concept.
And my feeling on the Honorable Judge Schmails grandson are well known.
Beck has done nothing to win me over yet.

Even if Ed stays my hope is we remake the offensive staff.

That's how I feel too... I think the jury is still out on Ed as a offensive coordinator. We all have to remember that UFM always has the final say so maybe Ed isn't being given a fair shake.

If that's the case I wish UFM would let the coordinator make the calls because how can u really evaluate the position then? Bottom line is we need to find more balance between run and pass. We also need to find a balance between intermediate passes and throwing it deep. Finally we need to figure out our personnel.

Great OL coach but nothing more... sorry I've seen enough.

This isn't his first go at OC either. Just doesn't have the right Instincts for this.

Go give someone 2m to our OC next year gene.

Unfortunately he's in a no win situation. He will never be "HC in waiting", and you can't demote him to strictly being the TE coach.

Time for a resume refresh this offseason.
