That happened about 3 weeks ago, I think it was also a 'Nova game. The refs shouldn't check for something unless it's critical when a team is out of timeouts late in the game. Checking the clock to see where it's at when it's between 8.5 and 9 seconds left and the ball already under the offensive basket, is less meaningful than giving somebody that's out of timeouts a chance to huddle up and set up a play.

I agree. If there are over 5 seconds left giving a team out of a time outs a freebie to look for a couple tenths is unfair to the other team. The rules committee needs to look at this issue for next season.
